Alberta's most famous political turncoat has inserted herself into the provincial election campaign.
Danielle Smith, the former Wildrose leader stunned supporters and opponents alike last December when she and eight of her colleagues crossed the floor to join Jim Prentice' PC party.
She later lost her bid for the PC party's nomination in the riding of Highwood but today, referring to herself as a 'free agent', fired a shot across the bow of PC leader Jim Prentice.
She tweets "I'm a free agent with dear friends in both parties. I want a PC-WRP coalition. I tried to create that but I failed."
She also writes, "...I think the divide is on fiscal issues. We needed a budget that incorporated more Wildrose ideas."
Smith's comments appeared to have caught the premier off guard and he didn't address her tweets directly.
A Wildrose spokesperson tells TheRebel.Media, Smith is more of distraction at this point but added, anyone with
conservative views will see the Prentice budget as a failed document.
Smith plans to write a book about her six years in politics.
