Alberta election: NDP's Rachel Notley reacts to Prentice's accusation of "extremism"

Rebel Staff

Alberta's NDP leader ripped Jim Prentice over comments suggesting her party is "extremist," suggesting it's all proof the PC boss is nervous going into the election campaign.

Rachel Notley told a raucous crowd that overflowed onto the parking lot of an NDP Calgary constituency office that Prentice is getting a glimpse of how unpopular his budget is, and is resorting to cheap shots.

Yesterday, Prentice told a radio audience that he's the only reasonable option to deal with Alberta's fiscal woes given the policies of the NDP and Wildrose parties, which he says are extreme.

Brian Jean, leader of the Wildrose Party, also hammered Prentice, calling his comments ridiculous.

Whoever thinks they live in a Conservative western city is sorely mistaken. Immigration and women vote left in every major city.

The NDP are the PCs in a hurry! Let the NDP bleed off a few ill informed votes from the progressives. Go Wildrose!

“have the Wild Rose form a coalition with the NDP

Surely you jest! Talk about opposites. You couldn’t get more opposite than that.

It would go against Hoyle and political science logic, but would it not be interesting to have the Wild Rose form a coalition with the NDP?? On election day there may be no clear winner, and if a majority of Albertans want the PC party to ride the pines for a while, it certainly would hand Prentice the embarrassing slap in the face he deserves.

Michael, what surprises even me is that you are probably correct, which is not a compliment on the NDP but an observation of just how bad these PCs are. However, I still could not vote for them because I have not seen an NDP who did not like every social program that happened across their desk.

The NDP might balance the books better than the Tories in Alberta

“Calgary is not Alberta.”

Calgary? The only NDP constituencies are in Edmonton, four of them. Calgary, however, has three Liberal constituencies.
