Notley’s carbon tax has already killed this greenhouse business

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Commentator Sheila Gunn Reid

The carbon tax and Bill 6 have claimed another Alberta business. Calgary greenhouse Hotchkiss Herbs and Produce is closing up shop and looking to leave the country, citing the carbon tax and Bill 6 as reasons.

Hotchkiss warned a year ago, almost to the day, that they would not survive the NDP, that Bill 6 and the looming carbon tax would be too much.

And he was right. His last day in operation is December 16.

Paul Hotchkiss told Global News:

“You couldn’t come up with better policies to crush not only small farms, but I think small Alberta businesses in general.”

When he tried to tell Agriculture Minister O'Neil Carlier of his concerns, he was stonewalled and ignored.

How many long time Alberta businesses have to close before Notley listens to the warnings of the people she’s hurting?

The more destruction in Alberta, the more certainty that Notley will be driven from office.

NDP MLAs have less than two years to decide if they will seek reelection.

Since there is a very strong possibility that Notley will seek the federal leadership of the NDP, she will not seek reelection either.

The final year before the election will be hilarious.

Andrew Stephenson the carbon tax will hit more than just gas , and there many greenhouses in Alberta.

Mickey D Watson..
Please inform our American neighbors to the south that the moron that’s running the show from Ottawa speaks for less than 37% of the people and was voted in on a fluke… He does not reflect Canada’s attitudes towards the US as we are proud to have the greatest nation in the world as our next-door neighbor and I wish you all the best with your brand-new commonsense not communist government..
This was potentially a time for great wealth in North America but the leaders from the provinces in Canada and the federal leader have all accepted bribes to oppose what’s good for Canadians and Canada to pursue their globalist agenda at the expense of our lives and hardship as well as the lives of the many veterans in the first two wars to provide the citizens of this great nation control of their government administrations.
No disrespect to our Armed Forces today but it is my feeling that they are being sacrificed at the altar of war while being fed the line about “democracy”
I was watching a TV program the other day asking the soldier, “why they fight”
The answer surprised and shocked me when they said it was for the guy beside them, I was quite surprised thinking to myself whatever happened to the oath to “defend this country and the constitution from threats foreign and domestic”
.

@ Ron Joseph

What is frightening is that CTV’s Bureau Chief Joyce Napier is just echoing the love affair the socialists have for Notley and their delight in the destruction Notley is causing Alberta.

This morning CTV’s Bureau Chief Joyce Napier nominated Rachel Notley as Canada’s Politician of the year. Joyce isn’t stupid because she is a woman, she is stupid because she never gets away from Ottawa.

Barnes says that we have 3 destroyers, HMCS Notley, HMCS Wynne and HMCS Trudeau.

I believe the HMCS stands for Her Majesty’s Communist Scumbags.

Can’t be anything else!

James Reid,

Good luck in your quest for office.

One suggestion I have, which might address your lack of funds and profile. Consider running 2017 for your local civic council or for your local school board. This is where the regressive left outflanked the right and started imposing their narrative in Alberta. This is the real ground zero for regaining the narrative and democratic control of local government, because in most local governments it is the bureaucrats and educates that tell the elected officials what to do.

I am an American but honestly care about Canada as well. What is going on in Canada is also going on in the USA. All of these Looney Leftists rules and laws are killing their money base – You, me and the rest of us, who pay for all of the crazies ideas. They claim all of this is to save the planet. BS! It is to line their pockets for their own future.

I am hoping when Trump is sworn in as the US President and changes are made, this will help Canada as well. Canada is a long time ally of the USA and I feel that those of us who honestly care about what is happening in Canada politically need to support the goals of the Conservatives in getting their country back.

I know that I don’t understand how your government works since it is so different from the USA’s government workings. However, both Canada and the USA have the same Looney Leftists. In Canada’s case, the Looney Leftists are in control, while the USA has a majority of Conservatives. NO Trump is not a Conservative but he definitely NOT part of the Looney Left. Remember, we citizens of the USA fought for our country and finally got it back for the next 2 years. In 2 years we will vote again for all positions in the House of Representatives and some US Senators postitions. So, we will have to fight again, so that our agenda can be maintained.

While I can’t vote in Canada I can certainly share your problems with my friends in the USA and they can pass it on to their friends. There are several in my group that have extra money to help an individual candidate, that kind of support is always welcomed. :O)

It is by design.

I wish we had recall legislation! Why don’t we?

There is no sense complaining. The sorry governments we “enjoy” today ( Trudeau, Notley, Wynne) is a result of US not standing up to these idiots. We’re too passive. Guess that’s the Canadian way. Big problem. So, having said this, I’m going to run for office in Alberta. I have no money but I’ll figure it out. Under what party? Don’t know. WR? PC? Problems with both. They can’t seem to figure out that being divided severs none of them. It seems to me like they’re both arguing over who’s Tonka truck it is in the sandbox. Grow up. For the rest of you… Stop complaining. If Notley can get elected with the absolute misfits and children she had get elected then let’s stand up and RUN! Who’s with me?

Kelvin – those rebates are $$ which should have never left your pocket in the 1st place!
The sooner we get that pot of tar boiling -the better! – too hell with the feathers – those would keep the lunatics warm – can’t have that! – the birds would freeze then – being the environmentalists they claim, I’m sure they won’t object too loudly. After all they can control the climate with all that cash they stole from the few working people – who being the survivors they are – have learned to heat with wood carbon – which over a period of time will warm the planet into acceptable temps and the vegitation will once again grow – by then these Zombies will have mutated into another species which when spotted will be shot for food – everyone becomes a winner once again.
Hope this happens real quick – ‘cause my old bones are cold & starving already.
How big of a jail do you think we’ll need to house these criminal fraudsters??? …they can’t think they can pull this off without any consequences. Time to jail Climatards!! …or open a season on them.

How many Albertans does it take to screw in a light bulb? One……… because he’s the only one working.

Did wretched Rachel quit smoking yet? Tsk tsk, polluting our wide open Alberta sky with cigarette smoke and bull shit.

I also do all my work on the qt. no more paying taxes until governments in this country tax and spend responsibly. No more book keeping, cash and trade only. Any rebates I get back from this trash can government will be given to charity.

This head long rush into philosophical taxation by the Alberta commies, will become a bell weather for other provinces to see the destruction this tax represents , particularly of the poor and struggling classes.

Any energy consumptive productivity will bear a large increase in operating costs which will be passed down the supply chain to end users – the largest consumers of fuel are electric generation and food production – so expect to see a double whammy of increases in food and home energy costs – who will a 10% or higher increase in these commodities hurt the most – fixed income seniors, single parents and families struggling with unemployment.

When the impact of this tax becomes apparent to consumers the torches will be lit and tar boiled – maybe other jurisdictions seeing the implosion of Alberta’s economy under this needless tax tress will embolden them to defy Ottawa’s carbon tax dictate – but by that time it will be too late for Alberta.

Alberta has been boom and bust decades for an economy. Right now, with the release on prices, we should be starting to boom like Saskatchewan and the Dakotas. Nope, we are going deeper into depression thanks to the wilful negligence of the government. Suicide increases due to wilful negligence of the government. Wilful negligence is a criminal code offence. So, yes, lock them up, when defeated.

Greenhouses having been popping up left and right throughout southern Alberta for the last 20 plus years. Here in the Bow lsland/Medicine Hat region they are a huge business but I know a lot if not most are only profitable because of their dependence on cheap clean coal from the Hanna mine. If Notley kills all coal use or taxes it to death, greenhouses will be closing faster than they sprang up. That will not only raise the price of food but put thousands more out of work.

Ain’t that something?! People waiting outside & 1000s inside even wait to hear some good news – seen pretty much all of Trump’s rallies & he does know how to relate to the American & world’s Silent Majority – who aren’t going to be silent any longer.
Does lend some hope for our situation here with these treacherous leaders though. Already TruDope is saying antagonizing things about Trump as is Nutley – but knob-gobblers eventually choke on a load sooner or later!!

I think those numbers you have referred to, are the ones from the election results – the popularity polls for the WRP are way up now @ around 78% and the Piggers are way down – last i heard was about 13%. Albertans aren’t a stupid bunch like Nutley figures – it’s just her little gang of know-it-alls that are behind her & her Union friends – but – even teachers are waking up and changing sides!!
