Alberta NDP's Michael Connolly called Christian gun owner a "possible terrorist"

Rebel Staff

I've been having some fun at Alberta NDP candidate Michael Connolly's expense,

I've been mocking his youth and inexperience.

However, I see now that some of Connolly's views -- specifically about gun ownership and Christianity -- may not make him a good fit to represent Albertans.

Earlier this year on Facebook, Connolly reposted a popular "meme" on the left side of the internet:

It's a photo showing an armed female Muslim terrorist holding up a Koran on one side, and an American woman holding a gun and a Bible on the other.

Connolly commented: "Both are radicals, and possible terrorists."

Challenged by readers, he doubled down, posting sweeping generalizations about Christianity and guns (and getting some pretty basic facts wrong about firearms.)

OK, so Michael Connolly's ignorance about both topics is pretty typical of young people in his milieu.

But how will it go over with Alberta voters, I wonder?

What do you think? Tell me in the comments!

According to sock puppets a terrorist is: a) anybody who’s a free thinker, b) a person who is or can be self-sufficient, c) one who believes small government is the best form of government, d) anyone who is not a socialist. Sock puppets are totally dependent on others for their ideas, speeches, thoughts and existence – hmm – just like a parasite.

What we NEED both in Canadian & Alberta’s political scene is for people to recognize what is treachery and to oppose and delete the treachery amongst us! Why is it that what used to be “right” is now wrong, and what used to be “wrong” is now right? Maybe it’s time that the Canadian electorate begin using their heads and do some rational reasoning as to the agendas of the radicals amongst our politicians and the public.
It’s going to be Wild-rose for Alberta’s return to the greatness it deserves.

We need experience, years of it . We cannot afford to have those with some knowledge and no experience representing us in the rough times ahead. There is no space for it. Too dangerous. Start at the ground level with your community, climb the ladder. Join by all means, but be mature enough to acknowledge that leadership roles are not easily given out. They are earned. Come back when the training wheels are off.

Trying to think of something good to say about the NDP. No luck so far.

I think you really should be more considerate of others. I know this is your style but this is going too far. We need more younger people in government. Your attacks will discourage the younger generations from joining government. They want to serve the people, just like everyone else.

I consider young Connolly an anti-liberty terrorist.
He and his cohorts want to corral humans into the progressive pen (a utopian gulag), disarm them thereby making them incapable of resisting the enlightened tyranny of people like himself. For our own good of course.
He is perfect for the NDP, a toxic brew of astounding ignorance and entitled arrogance. Lucky for him so is the majority of the enemedia.

the left always create make believe scenarios to satisfy how they want to see the world. that’s their danger. They don’t deal in reality.

Zealots like Connolly are exactly why we have a dysfunctional political/public mass of corruption, just another little weasel pushing an agenda just to fit in with the other Marxist /anarchist so prevalent in our political system at every level! His ilk is responsible for genocides world wide, if he lives in your neighborhood be on your guard he’ll be a gossiper and informer. This Rebel news.

Thanks Ezra, please do keep on exposing them for the “extremists” they are.
An NDP government in AB, can’t be worse than another PC government in AB.

Good expose. Let’s hope enough of Connolly’s riding sees it to defeat him and enough of Alberta to defeat his party.

I would challenge Micheal Connolly to post comparison pictures of someone claiming to represent Christianity wearing a suicide belt, planting an IED, or beheading someone simply because they are from another faith. It would not be hard to find these pics of jihadists claiming to represent Islam. I understand there are millions of peaceful Muslims in the world, but for Micheal to imply that there are Christian equivalents to jihadists anywhere in the world today is truly ignorant.

Thats ok I am an Albertan , and I think the NDP are communists.
Simple , Vote Wildrose

Bill … I’m no expert on Alberta demographics but I wouldn’t be too quick at dismissing your #1scenario given our experience here in Ontario where the Toronto voters {mostly ethnic newbies} determine the political climate of the Province.

I realize we’ve all been having a bit of sport here at the expense of a young Eastern Dipper (non Albertan) quisling who has been indoctrinated in infantile social ideology and political naivety at the Allan Rock anti-gun atheist academy of global socialism (UofO), but there is a larger evil at play here than an inept, unready to govern, politically inappropriate party leading in the polls. I think other forces are at play.

First, in my 37 years working and living in Alberta I never met anyone who would vote NDP let alone allow socialists to govern Albertans. That is just part of the culture. Grant Notley was about as great a populist as the Dips ever had and he only made small inroads north of Edmonton.

That leaves us 2 scenarios which could produce the current results of a Dip surge –
1) Alberta’s demographic shift has been immense and polarizing and has undermined the native conservative culture with not a whisper of this being apparent –(unlikely)
2)Someone is diddling the poll numbers to freighten conservatives back into the fold.

A Wildrose rep for my riding called me yesterday and asked me if, “Can we count of your support?”, to which I promptly responded loudly, “Hell ya!”. Obviously he did not expect such a forceful response because he paused in silence for a few seconds, taken aback.

I want Ralph back.
commented 2015-05-01 23:16:52 -0400
Glenn Craig, you may be right. But I still hope the polls are wrong and they give Wild Rose a chance.

Maurice Potvin…I have seen this sort of thing before…if ANY political party assumes that the fear of the alternative guarantees voter support no matter how far they push their luck they get served a nasty surprise…..sort of like a girl friend going home from the bar with a bad boy to let her boyfriend know he has been a drunken ass.

Who would have thought that the Liberals and the Bloc Quebecois would have been pushed out in Quebec by the NDP?

This is a wake up call….

Stupidity is a required subject for all NDP Politicians. This also applies to the Idiots that vote for them.

I still find it hard to believe that Albertans could actually vote NDP!!! That just boggles my mind!!! I know I live in BC, but I was born in Alberta and I still have family there. It goes against everything I’ve always believed and experienced in Alberta. These NDP supporters must be concentrated in Edmonton and Calgary, and perhaps exacerbated by low oil prices. I can’t imagine any independent, self-reliant farmer or rancher voting NDP. I sure hope the polls are wrong. Otherwise, Alberta is heading for disaster.

It would be interesting to do a DNA test to see if Michael Connolly comes from the same gene pool as Justin Trudeau.
commented 2015-05-01 17:51:58 -0400
Someone should tell Connolly about the difference between attacking and defending and see if he gets it. If hes says he does ask him whose side is he on. He might just tell us.
commented 2015-05-01 17:21:47 -0400
That ignoramus liberal dimwit child Connolly, has no place running anything let alone a province!! Keep idiots like that away from me and my family please.; HE is the dangerous radical and potential terrorist.
commented 2015-05-01 14:34:41 -0400
Ezra, your use of humour here to make a very serious point I leave to your discretion, but, your very serious point scares the hell out of me! I’m not using humour when I cite professionals who describe the how and why of ‘liberalism as a mental disorder’ and how it is destroying centuries of hard work, dedication, tradition, sacrifice, blood and treasure. That’s not funny!
Maybe some of that old Nanny State Socialism needs to be applied to all those delusional lefty/liberals – for their own good of course…

Connolly calling anybody with a firearm a “possible terrorist” is going to bite him badly. This smacks of Rock’s C-97 anti-gun-owner (excuse me, “anti-firearm”) legislation… and just how much good did THAT do? Idealism is fine, but it should be backed up by some facts and data, and preferably correct facts and data. Otherwise, like now, he just makes himself look like an ignorant idiot, and alienates the very constituents he’s trying to woo…

Never mind. The voters will tell him what they think.

And Ezra, be nice to the poor, idealistic, naive young man. You don’t want to be eating crow if the unthinkable happens and he wins his constituency…
commented 2015-05-01 14:27:29 -0400
You win Ezra…he’s bad news. Lampoon him to your hearts content.
commented 2015-05-01 14:19:02 -0400
I really don’t want a bunch of children leading the province with their “bordering-on-communism” ideas. Saskatchewan is looking like a nice place to work. So what if it is as flat as a board and you can see a dog run away for days, it is still better than living under an NDP government.

God help Alberta if Albertans vote in an NDP government.

Guns are for killing people. The assault rife does that just fine. Connolly and Mulcair are not pigs but misguided pacifists who would turn this country over to Mid East terrorists if push came to shove. Notice their ages. One is young and the other an old man. Too mock the young is not a good idea. Many of them get their ideas from the old. What is my point? Make sure we take an interest in the young and refer them to real history.
