Alberta School Board bullies Christian Academy over “offensive” Bible verses

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On Friday's show, I reported on the Battle River School Board's attempt to censor "offensive" verses in the Bible.

Freedom of religion and freedom of expression are an essential freedom in Canada. In fact, the Canadian Constitution has religion hard-wired into it.

But when the Battle River School Board held a public meeting, the residents who attended were not allowed to voice their opposition, the Board claimed:

"Since the agenda was set in advance, they could not speak.”

I wonder if this school board would ever attempt to censor verses from the Koran.

WATCH my video to see which Biblical verses the school board found "offensive".

Is any of this at all surprising?

Peter, you right to a degree.
Go look what islamic schools are like in europe, they demand everything islamic in those schools pushing out western education. Give them a finger and they’ll take your hand and your head is next after a successful terrorist education.

Kelly Wieber, too bad your comments are too short for anyone to give them much thought! Review your SJW primer, I’m sure it has a more thorough piece you can copy and paste, calling it righteous! Fantastic Fail Kelly!

And then you quoted bunch of other stuff that wasn’t really worth laying down because if anybody wants to read it they can go see your original comment… But my question is how is this statement you made relevant to the statement I made about the Bible… It has nothing to do with the Koran or any public monies or any of the like… It was not an economic political statement I was merely saying if you’ve never read the Bible and you probably don’t believe.!
Have a nice day.

Dirk said, “There should be no such thing as an islamic school, allow them and you are inviting nothing but trouble.”

I tend to agree, but if the Islamic school is refused, then there is grounds to not allow Christian schools either.

“According to the National Post, this Christian school receives public funding. I know of no Islamic school in Canada that receives public funding (Thankfully), so Ezra’s comparison is moot. If they want to teach Bible, they should become a private school and remain independent of the government.”

George, that is always the problem when Christian institutions rely on Government funding. It doesn’t take long before the government wants to dictate what you can teach and believe. You and I arrive at the same place for very different reasons.

Not that pulling the plug on government meddle workers would make much difference. They would just find some other means of interfering and making the same demands.

No, Kelly, we don’t. And even if we do it is our choice not the choice of some unbelieving dyke with an agenda to ram down our throats..

I think that version may have been altered a little bit because in the KJV version did not only mention to words taken away but words added as well.. That scripture could be speaking to itself about itself..

Michael J. Greenville, if , as you say, Ezra is raising money in some “scam” cause, I assume you’re not taken in by the so-called “scam”. That means it isn’t you he’s scamming…. It’s only those of us who don’t believe it’s a scam and decide of our own free will to contribute. That all means IT’S NONE OF YOUR DAMNED BUSINESS!!!!!

“… then it is possible the board and the academy will sever ties and CCAS will need to find a new school board and may well close.”

That sounds like the end game. But we’re to seek the approval of God and not man. So no capitulation of any kind can be made with these minions of the Left who have infiltrated every level of authority. Any agreement made with them will involve Galatians 1:9, “As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!” No Christian wants that, so Christians must stay strong and not give up teaching bits and pieces of the Bible to appease the unappeasable. Why end up with a closed school AND the displeasure of God?

Background
The whole episode began earlier this year when Laurie Skori, chair of the Battle River School Division (BRSD) sent an email to the Cornerstone Christian Academy Society (CCAS) requesting that the academy remove bible verses on immorality that were part of a scriptural footnote in the school’s updated statement of faith. For example, the verses from 1 Corinthians that were requested to be removed referred to neither “fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate … shall inherit the kingdom of God.” Skori also asked that the school remove the word “quality” from the phrase “CCA offers quality educational programming.”
Believing that the Bible verses contravene Alberta’s Human Rights Act, after protection for gender and sexual minorities was added to the Alberta Human Rights Act in late 2015, the board maintained that it was compelled to make such a request to remove parts of the Bible, specifically those that deal with sexual ethics deemed as offensive speech to “vulnerable minorities” according to the province’s human rights code.
Trying to compromise and reach agreement, CCAS agreed to remove the reference to “quality” and drop the Bible verses from its handbook. However, BRSD board chair Laurie Skori followed up that original request by raising the ante with a directive that “any scripture that could be considered offensive to particular individuals should not be read or studied in school. For example, any teachings that denigrate or vilify someone’s sexual orientation.” This raised the specter that the division put itself in a position to limit what Christian tenets could be taught in the school by blocking any Bible passage from the classroom it deemed offensive to a particular group of students.
The Christian academy went public on June 13th with their concerns over biblical censorship by the school board.
The board met on June 15th with no resolution to the standoff and voted to meet again with CCAS before June 27 in an attempt to bridge any gap on this subject. The trustees of the BRSD have signaled that if they and CCAS are unable to reconcile their differences and reach an agreement regarding the use of scripture in the school by the June 27th deadline, then it is possible the board and the academy will sever ties and CCAS will need to find a new school board and may well close.
Analysis
The school tried to be accommodating by agreeing to remove the reference to “quality” and drop the Bible verses from its handbook, something which it should never have done in the first place as it gave the school board the authority to dictate which parts of the Bible are acceptable so that some people might not be ‘offended’. By so giving the board the authority to decide what content from the Bible was acceptable, the school, thereby, opened a door that never should have been opened, and, once opened, could not be closed.
The board has made it clear that it is unlikely that it will allow itself to become engaged in a legal battle. Rather, the board, in typical bully fashion, has pulled out its stick, indicating that it would dissolve the partnership between the CCAS and BRSD if the academy doesn’t comply with the board’s demands. This is the most likely outcome and likely was the board’s intention right from the start.
It is important that if such dissolution occurs that it not come across as arising from a mutual agreement to do so, but, rather, that the board forced such a dissolution because the school would not relent.

This censorious fascism is too prevalent in local politics – here we have some Podunk Hollow commie hillbilly who want’s her rustic community to take the giant leap backward to Big city politically correct tyranny/depravity – Proving once again PC zealots are robotic followers and not thinkers. Leftists are first and foremost 1st level thinkers like gold fish, they know that it gets light and dark and that when it’s light food gets dumped in the bowl once a day – like we can cure poverty by stealing or religious bigotry with religious bigotry, or stop hate by being hateful or cure intolerance with intolerance – first level thinking. Similarly they get into some fart-catcher administrative job and they really do not have the IQ to genuinely analyze the damage they do by injecting martinet lock-step politics into public or administrative policy, they just know the big boss in Ottawa likes it and they want some of the Manna they spread around in Mordor.

MICHAEL J GREENVILLE catch up. Crowd funding is how free speech is kept alive in this sick day and age. The people speak, and put their money where their mouth is.

When will the school board censor the Koran and those who use it in the classroom?! As it looks right now, Never! What a system, the muslim schools can perpetuate Mohammad’s hatred, and the prescription for a world-wide caliphate; however, Christian schools are told censor the Bible and the teachings of Jesus! Unbelievable arrogance and this should be remedied in a court of law. The school board should not be given the chance to walk back their bigotry, this needs to be addressed once and for all! No out of court agreements, pound the Board, they deserve it!

Have you ever been hiking on a steep, rounded slope, where as you descend you can’t see the edge or what’s below as it gets steeper? A possible way down or certain, sudden death. You know there’s a point of no return – where you’re goin’ down that slippery slope…but you have to get down somehow.
Kinda seems like society is right there on that point on that slope. The wrong move and…Zzzzzppppp!
I wonder what it’ll be?

These are pretty plain requiring no cross-referencing and pretty much telling it like it is..
The only people that don’t believe in God are the only ones that have never read the Bible.
god is only asking you to not screw your neighbor over or his wife for that matter but love them and be forgiving and follow in his word…
Not to be selfish and greedy and thinking that your problems are all greater than somebody else’s.
The Bible is just so much common sense that I don’t understand why people would not want to live this way as opposed to living under man’s heavily regulated self-serving nature where taxes perversions and idolatry are the mantra for profit and gain at the expense of their humanity.!
