Shocking statistic: Alberta's small business confidence lowest of any province in 15 years

Rebel Staff

Amber Ruddy, the Director of the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses (CFIB), just shared a stunning finding with me.

The CFIB has conducted small business confidence surveys for 15 years, and Ruddy said that the figures out of Alberta this month are at an all-time low -- lower even than they've ever been in traditional "have not" regions like Newfoundland, or in Ontario during the 2008 recession.

She points out that many NDP policies are concerning for small business owners in Alberta, such as tax hikes, next year's 50 percent minimum wage increase, and new business laws and regulations.

Premier Rachel Notley promised to bring in a job creation tax credit but the NDP still hasn't tabled a budget, five months after taking office.

Alberta’s NDP is using a fake "public survey" to push climate change policy.

She had all the answers during the election it was all so simple then, Ministers in bc campaigning for mulclair, now a 7.25% raise and trips for the NDP for buisness ethics, ? No budget no plan no hope alberta is screwed. Seems all she wanted was her turn at the public trough, just a different bunch of hogs this time. No ethics no plan no budget no hope for taxpayers

Its evil alright Fern S.
Notely is pure red hot evil. Calculating and determined to destroy a province and its people. She, along with the unions,(her husband is a boss), and their foreign funding, have one agenda. Take down Canada’s resource strength, hobble an entire country, and go to a Marxist system. She, along with Wynne (her scarecrow sister) and the other socialists in this country, have made too much headway already.
Even with the Conservatives back in and a Republican in the White House, it will be a fight.
Notely, comrade, is carrying out her assigned part of the agenda, and appears quite pleased with herself so far.

Ezra, Notley has not brought her budget down in Alberta, YET, because the amount of her budget is EXTREMLEY over what any Albertan would agree with and if this hit the news media, that could affect T. Mulcair’s election results! That was on the news about three months ago. Notley will bring down her budget after the election is over. Isn’t that evil!!!! She is covering up her spending to the Albertian’s her put her in power! How do you trust a politician?

Rachel Notley will go down in history as one of the three worst premiers in Canadian history, the others being Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne. Otherwise known to future generations as the Premier Hall of Shame…

It is more than Notley’s inexperience, it is also due to failed NDP ideology that Alberta is in an economic meltdown.
commented 2015-09-24 23:15:34 -0400
The economic meltdown in Alberta and Notleys inexperience are causing people across Canada realize they need a steady hand like Harper. Kind of ironic that oil and gas and the Alberta NDPers will lose Mulcair the election.

A couple of points: First; there is exactly one comment here from our resident trolls. They both like to go on and on about how they’re ‘necessary’ for debate here, in this opinion column masquerading as a news site. So much for that. And, that one comment, what the hell does a mostly bullshit biased and heavily opinionated piece about Canada’s reputation for environmental issues have to do with business confidence in Alberta? It’s a really thin connection, and it really makes Jimmy look like he’s willing to grasp at pretty much any straw that comes his way to bleat about how horrible Harper is. Except…Harper’s not even mentioned in this story. The conclusion? Not only are Jimmy, Terry, et al not “necessary” on this site; their lies, deflections, and profanity are really not even wanted. Your stupidity is welcome and even cheered on at many, many other sites. Here, we really don’t need to hear about Ché’s heroics, Chavez’s humanity, or Justin’s intelligence.

This is what you get when you vote Ndp….watched from Alberta as they destroyed BC, Ont. Anywhere they are elected they burn to the ground…….Another example_____ALBERTA. Am gonna watch from Sask. Am retired now so may come for the Ndp goodies.

Trevor Marr, Charles Moulton — As much as I agree with you guys, we’re stuck with Notley crew until the next provincial election. Alberta has no recall legislation, and she has every legal right to stay in power until her designated term us up. But make no mistake, she and her cronies will only last one term.

But here’s the kicker: The NDP typically boosts the bureaucracy during its times of “governing”. We can expect this again. This means that our next government is going to have to cut the bureaucracy — meaning, fire a large number of government employees, be they medical, teaching, or government. This will temporarily increase unemployment, and likely indefinitely make enemies. Unions hate responsibility, and most government jobs are unionized. We can expect no different. There will, by necessity, be spending cuts (more like spending slashes) to go with this employee reduction, and for at least one term things will be very tight. But we must stay the course, and not let emotions take us into another “spend” government. We need to learn Ontario’s lesson — they had a term or two of NDP (Bob Rae), ONE term of Conservative (Mike Harris), and they didn’t like the cutbacks. So they elected how many terms of Liberal (Dalton McGuinty, Kathleen Wynne)? We know the economic situation of Ontario. We must not duplicate it. When we kick the NDP to the curb (and hopefully throw them under a fast-moving bus at the same time), we will face some painful times… and we must endure.

Seriously…what’s being done…right now…to get rid of this kangaroo government?

Rachel, you have got to leave Alberta. No questions asked, just leave. Your are not Albertan.
commented 2015-09-24 18:17:31 -0400
Rachel, you should work WITH the Alberta Advantage! You should be giving scaled tax incentives to industry for reduced emissions, increased efficiency, reforestation, land reclamation, water treatment, etc. THAT is the win-win, NOT copying an already failing Green Focused path to ruin, like Germany, who is now going back to Fossil Fuels after all-in renewable failures! We need ALL forms of Energy and Rachel needs to support the Alberta Advantage we have!
commented 2015-09-24 18:00:08 -0400
Albertans, stand up for Alberta and stand up against the AB NDP’s current path of ruin for Alberta! Read, Sign, Share… let’s get traction on this for the AB NDP to respect the desire of 85% of Albertans to have a STRONG and GROWING oil sands! If Rachel Notley does not represent Alberta, who does she represent???
commented 2015-09-24 17:57:15 -0400
One of the least intelligent premiers to ever win an election. Rachel and her charges had best enjoy their reign of destruction, because they won’t get another shot. She should resign now, before the riots start in AB.

Peter Netterville, the only good part of the useful idiots getting their way will be seeing them get their reward for supporting communism and radical Islam , enslavement and a noose. When that does happen they will realize that there is no one left to speak for them

I think that this is why the Police went around, confiscating peoples firearms. They want to protect Motley Notley. Not to worry, it is just Communist Dogma at work. God help Alberta and Us.

Latest “Ekos” poll just out now. The conservatives are pulling out of the pact. They are almost 10 points ahead of the rest. Majority is within reach. This is fantastic because PMSH’s media blitz hasn’t begun yet.

Charleton said, “Harper is the only one fighting back against this insanity.”

In Canada, but I think the Australian PM is also “fighting against this insanity.”

Well, I guess since Jimmy, Terry and Richard/Doug, are an idiots, then he might as well be useful idiots.

Those three nitwits just love to shake up the hornet’s nest, but they should be careful or they might get stung … several times.

Ron Voss thank god Harper is dead last on being sucked into the Global Warming fiscal Da Moron peddles.

Anything that comes form the Globe and Mail is half truths or misleading information, one must do a lot of fact checking when dealing with a socialist slanted media as they have their agenda. The socialist media hate Harper and will spread all kinds of half truths in order to spread their agenda, and there are people out there willing to swallow it all, hook, line, and sinker. Environmental protection has been strongest in the last years, try building anything without strict environmental assessments. If one rare bird is found then all construction is stopped, this was not the case even 20 years ago. There are agencies and departments who look after these departments and Harper has nothing to do with them. I am tired of people spewing propaganda without some fact checking, but I guess they have their agenda also.

BROCK DAVIDSON, “I just have to laugh at the stupidity of those voters in Alberta, stupid stupid stupid. Oh what have we done, well in the first place they voted for a communist regime. second they are stupid stupid stupid…” Brock it may not be a case of stupid, stupid, stupid, but rather a case of self-serving, self-serving, self-serving. William D. Gairdner provides another explanation in his latest book, The Great Divide: Why Liberals and Conservatives will Never, Ever Agree. According to Gairdner, the will-o-the-wisp pursuit of equality of results in libertarian-socialist countries has led to the development of stagnant “tripartite states” where one third of the people is employed by government, another third subsists on significant annual government handouts and only the remaining third relies on productive, private-sector employment. And the three parts vote according to what best meets their self-interest.
