The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association has gone ridiculously overboard. Chanting 'USA' is now viewed as unsportsmanlike behavior.
Booing teams and chanting 'air ball', 'scoreboard' and 'overrated' are also no longer allowed.
“Any action directed at opposing teams or their spectators with the intent to taunt, disrespect, distract or entice an unsporting behavior in response is not acceptable sportsmanship,” the WIAA wrote in an email.
A spokesman for the WIAA said that while these new terms are 'not a requirement', they are a reference for individual school districts to enforce. Students who don't follow the new terms will face consequences.
Booo! Clearly the spokesman sucks at playing defense.
In addition to the above banned chants, the “Na Na Na Na – Hey Hey Hey Goodbye” song has been classified as “taunting and disrespectful.”
“U-S-A” has been attacked too. It's apparently grouped along with “any acronym of derogatory language or innuendo.”
Something is seriously wrong with the United States. The sissification of America is in full swing.
Universities have already banned things like 'yoga' for 'cultural appropriation' and films such as 'American Sniper' have been banned from being shown because they could offend Muslims.
Oh, and don't forget about a moment of silence for the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. That too, is considered offensive.
It's time to bench the idiots making these decisions.
