Folk singer James Twyman from Portland is headed to Syria.
According to Fox News, the he believes he can 'soften the hearts' of Islamic terrorists with a concert.
“It’s going to be pretty powerful,” Twyman said. “When people come
together and focus on something in a positive way…there’s scientific evidence that it can change things for the better.”
This isn't Twyman's first rodeo.
In the1990s, Twyman performed in Baghdad and in Bosnia and Croatia during the Balkan War.
He will be leaving on January 20, to stop in Italy before going to Israel. From there he'll head to Syria.
The 'peace concert' is set for Jan 31. His contracts are trying to secure a venue in ISIS-controlled territory.
Jewish, Christian and Muslim leaders will be joining him.
“Each one will lead the group in prayer from their religion,” Twyman said. “It’s going to be pretty powerful.”
As for the dangers of heading to ISIS-controlled Syria, Twyman thinks it's his duty and he has to do this.
“I’m no sort of hero, but I do believe in the power of this,” he says.
