Andrew Lawton: Doug Ford takes Trudeau's carbon tax to court

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Andrew Lawton of True North Initiative joined me to discuss Doug Ford's government challenging Trudeau's national carbon tax in an Ontario court.

The Ford government isn't acting alone, Premiers Scott Moe of Saskatchewan, Brian Pallister of Manitoba, Blaine Higgs of New Brunswick and Alberta Premier-designate Jason Kenney are all backing Ford's challenge as intervenors.

WATCH my interview with Andrew to see what this growing national movement against the carbon tax means for the Trudeau government.

The court challenge is simple . They claim the carbon tax is needed to stop climate change . The fact that the tax won’t stop climate change and only make us poorer , then the tax should be rejected because the end result can not be proven or even measured . This is still a democratic country not a dictatorship like Trudeau thinks it is . Further more the Liberals have never shown the true costs when asked on numerous occasions . This is a escalation tax as well so how can you prove that any increase is needed or not . If Mr fruit fly was serious he wouldn’t own 3or 4 homes now would he .

Canadians will take any amount of abuse the media in behalf of Trudeau rams down our throat.

I would be awfully surprised if the courts didn’t rule in Trudeau’s favor.

Other aspects that MUST be vetted are what companies/products are actually subject to this tax and what the subsidies/adjustments/exceptions are.
Example: What is tax rate for the Gaspe cement plant (which incidentally is a MAJOR producer of GHG almost comparable to total Oil Sands) and which was not even subject to an environmental assessment before being constructed! (It just opened a few years ago.)
How can FEDERAL government justify having 2 different (and unequal)
tax structures (direct tax vs purchase of so-called carbon credits trading).
The latter is a notoriously corrupt scheme.
What is the expected reduction in GHG’s ?? Is it continually monitored? How will we know it is working!! And what are projected future tax rates?
AND most importantly of all – as we only produce some 1% of world’s GHG’s – why would we totally cripple our economy to achieve this reduction when China alone increases their “pollution” by several times this amount EVERY year. If this is not an enforceable worldwide effort, it is futile.
PS: Even IPCC only attributes a small % of extra CO2 as being man-made.

Conclusion = = = = DUMB, DUMB, DUMB

I hope when gas hits $2.50 a litre in BC soon the tune will change . If BC wants to pay let them . Trudeau is such a waist of skin . He is next to join the witches in the loser section .

It seems to me that if the Federal Governments position that this is a national or global emergency, then it is up to them to prove: 1) that there really an emergency and 2) prove that their plan will fix the emergency.

So in the interest of challenging them, here are some of my favourite links, I will skip my own stuff for now:

There is the Global Warming Petition Project, signed by over 32,000 vetted scientist. If 97% agree, then there should be a list supporting the so called science of over 1,000,000 scientists floating around somewhere. http://www.petitionproject.org/

Here is a link to Dr. Robert Robinson’s presentation to the Heartland’s International Conference on Climate Change #9 (ICCC#9) where he discusses the petition. http://climateconferences.heartland.org/arthur-b-robinson-award-iccc9/

Here is a link to Dr. Moore’s Keynote Presentation to the ICCC#9. Dr. Moore has done numerous great presentations, but this is still one of my favorites. http://climateconferences.heartland.org/patrick-moore-iccc9-keynote/

And, here is Dr. Moore’s paper were he explains the benefits of CO2, how levels were getting dangerously low and how our burning of Fossil Fuels may be saving life on earth. https://fcpp.org/sites/default/files/documents/Moore%20-%20Positive%20Impact%20of%20Human%20CO2%20Emissions.pdf

I would say it is past time for a serious discussion about the science. Because, first you need to determine if there is really a problem, and if there is, what is it really. Like for example, what if the earth cools down a few degrees.

BTW, Based on his comments last night, Jason Kenny needs to understand this to. How do we get the message to him that our CO2 emissions may well be, actually probably are, a good thing?

Okay, and for good measure, here is what I believe and how I came to my current position:
