Andrew Scheer’s leadership: 3 reasons to get excited and 3 key questions

Christopher WilsonRebel Commentator

Andrew Scheer is the man to lead the Conservatives against Justin Trudeau in 2019 after a pretty dramatic leadership vote Saturday evening.

It must have been tough for Maxime Bernier who led for twelve rounds only to lose on the final 13th ballot 51-49.

But, the great news is all of the candidates came out and supported their new leader though anyone who thinks it’s going to be easy to defeat Trudeau in 2019 is probably getting ahead of themselves.

It can be done but it's going to be a stiff challenge.

Watch as I lay out three reasons why I’m excited about Andrew Scheer as leader - his concerns about free speech on campus, his plan to give us property rights and his prairie boy authenticity.

But I’ll also leave you with three big questions that now face the party after his election.

Will he punch back at the relentless Media Party attacks that have already begun?

Does he have the appropriate experience after being the Speaker for most of his career?

And, can he unite the social conservative and libertarian wings of the party and present a united front against Trudeau in 2019?

Liza Rosie, I too cannot respect Trudeau; I have listed why in previous posts. Your analogy was spot on!

I have liked Andrew Scheer from the start but he was pretty low key in the campaign. Now that he’s the leader, I will be buying a membership. I think he’s very smart, smooth with the french transitions, and has experience in the HoC. Conservatives landed on their feet with this guy. Wow, Liza Rosie, I love your response. How to shred a troll in very few sentences, impressive.

Jack said, “By the way, if you are such a lover of democracy, then why don’t you shut the fuck up about your hate for Trudeau and support YOUR PM, since democracy is what made him PM and that is what Canadians wanted.”

Hey troll, you are the fking hypocrite. Do you mean support like you and your ‘kind’ supported Prime Minister Harper, who was literally character assassinated by the global cabal backed cbc we all are forced to pay for?

Supporting Juststupid would be like supporting the wanker bully on the street who makes everyone’s life hell; but is popular and has a squad of goons who support him because his daddy is the police chief or the mayor. Every town has had one, as well as every country. Juststupid is ours. I have never supported that treasonous, neo Marxist, nihilist, globalist, totalitarian. He will be remembered for his hand in the demise of western civilization. Evil, greed and power driven lunatic with pink socks. Respect? Support? not of that feckless piece of work. I have never referred to him as PM. and never will. He is a traitor to his country.

You troll are the flippin hypocrite.
Scheer is a decent man. We can work with him.
Trying to make this an issue just reveals the real you.
Useless troller, cbc parasite.

@ Leviticus 2013

I agree that there is a plethora of things I find despicable about the Liberals within the last 20 or so years. Classic Liberals I did not mind (though I still did not agree with them on a lot of issues.)

Good old Jack is trying to equate my acceptance of the Liberal’s election win as legally valid must mean that I must also have “respect for Liberals”.

It is a standard Liberal liars’ tactic to conflate two separate diverse concepts as the same (straw man argument) and the attack the person using the straw man.

I accept the Liberal’s win as a legally valid election win, but I do not respect the Liberals, especially Justin. But Jackie is trying desperately to make the two things equal, that my acceptance of a legal election win must also therefore mean that I must have respect for the winner. That is actually a form of lying/misrepresentation (or stupidity) not sure which in Jack’s case.

Jack, do try to understand that I have never pretended to have respect for these Liberals. It is you who claimed I said this.

But I do accept the validity of their election win and I respect the electoral process that gave them the win.

Liberals, however, do not tend to accept a Conservative/Republican election win as valid. The proof is glaringly obvious all over the main stream media in Canada and the USA.

Your ad nauseam reputation of this line seems to be evidence that your a afraid that Scheer has a good chance of doing exactly that. As I recall the same thing was said about Harper who got tow terms and the last with a majority.

Are you going to be a man for a change, Jack, and prove where I lied? You have yet to do that. Be a man, Jack, be a man.

Ms. Carter… With a conservative win in the next federal go around I can understand why you’re terrified to the point of incoherent
jabbering .!! I’m with you Peter as I have absolutely no respect for the liberals and I will just come right out and say it.. There’s lots of stuff I have no respect for such as liberal liars, liberal thieves, liberal traitors, liberal extortionists, liberal homosexuals, illegal liberal Muslim cabinet ministers, liberal finger puppets and the useful morons they exploit, there’s a few more but generally I think you get the idea.!!

I can grasp your lies, hypocrisy and incorrect statements just fine.

You are hilarious – pretending you actually have respect for Liberals for a second as a legitimate political view.

As far as Scheer handling the biased left wing media, he did quite well In his post-election interview with the CBC. They tried to trip him up and pigeon-hole him, but Scheer did well in deflecting their attempts and shifting the focus on the Liberals.

@Jack Carter…why even have an election until Trudeau dies of old age? Grant him dictatorship for life so he can “turn the economy on a dime”.

Unfortunately Jack these annoying and waste of time elections are legally mandated and you will just have to put up with them like it or not….and the likelyhood is that Justin will not win them by unopposed acclaimation…..so do try not to die of appoplexy over it ….it would cause so many of us here at theREBEL to grieve and mourn.

All Sheer has to do in the next election is show up and fog a mirror. Trudeau’s economic disaster will be in full swing by then… everyone besides Ontario will experience energy poverty – all Sheer has to do is promise to turn the lights on at the office/factory again, make it easier for people to fill their car and heat the house and he’ll win by default. Which is to say, that if that situation doesn’t play out, the CPC will lose the next election. As their Ontario branch has found out the hard way, that strategy doesn’t work.

ps…did you hear about Trudeau meeting Pope Francis today? Kinda copycat of Donald Trump last week. How incredibly coincidental!!!
Transparent, manipulative and disrespectful.
New Age Trudeau claims to be a Catholic since he once took an evangelical workshop. Didn’t learn about Catholicism, mind you, but still calls himself a Catholic. Unfortunately, he forgot to learn how to spell the word!

Peter Netterville,

Yes, your respect for liberals and the liberal government in general as being legitimate is all over The Rebel’s comment section in countless threads since this place launched.

LOL.

Who are you trying to kid?

One thing about Andrew Scheer….he is bomb proof!
If you watched how he was before the announcement; a child hanging off his neck, smiling (as usual)…pretty collected and ready for anything. (Poor Maxime was so stressed.)
I think he’s going to show how incredibly smart he is with the media and how he knows their tricks. He’s no fool and has watched and learned about both sides when he was speaker.
Scheer is TRUE CANADIAN and we’re going to have to get behind him 100% and applaud him for being what a Canadian really is.

Oh Jack, maybe if I use smaller words you might understand.

I have never said the Liberal government is illegitimate like the idiot Liberals do about Conservative governments, but that does not mean I will not criticize Trudeau and this Liberal government. And there is a lot to criticize about this Liberal government and their airhead leader, but unfortunately they won fair and square.

I will likely criticize Andrew Scheer as well, but I support him because he won fair and square.

Only a fool would accept any government carte blanche even if they did vote for that government, but the most of the Liberals do for Justin. They, like it seems you Jack, fawn all over him as though he is your lover.

Peter Netterville,

Nice to see you completely dodged my point that makes you a hypocrite.

Let’s try it again:

If you are such a lover of democracy, then why don’t you shut the fuck up about your hate for Trudeau and support YOUR PM, since democracy is what made him PM and that is what Canadians wanted.

You have your chance to vote him out in the next election, but you should be supporting Trudeay now since those were the “results of a fair democratic election even if the results are not what I wanted”.

Or does democracy only apply when you want it to.

Fucking hypocrite.
commented 2017-05-29 21:05:38 -0400
Jack, you are a funny person. You just do not get it. I feel sorry for you. I am not sure there is any other way that I can explain the simple concept of supporting the results of a fair democratic election even if the results are not what I wanted.

I am reminded of the first election (and the successive two others) that Harper won. In no instance at all did the Liberals ever accept that the elections Harper won were legit. They whined about them all as if they are the only ones that had any right to win an election, so therefore in their limited intellect the elections must be illegitimate. Poor dullard Liberals.

It is the same with the Liberals/Democrats in the US who still cannot accept that Trump won. They claim it must be a stolen election because their little brains cannot accept democracy when it does not go their way.

The Left, especially Liberals, in all the Western democracies simply do not have the mental agility to accept that they are not the divine anointed ruling party for ever and ever. Their egos will not allow for such a thought.

It is this same mental deficiency that is restricting you from understanding that I get behind Andrew Scheer simply because he won the election.

Poor Jack, cannot understand this.

Peter Netterville,

I don’t think democracy is bullshit. I think your claim of democracy and why you support someone you didn’t want to win is bullshit. What other choice do you have? None. If Liberal lite Michael Chong won, would you be supporting him too in the name of democracy?
commented 2017-05-29 20:31:28 -0400
Jack said, "Bullshit. It has nothing to do with democracy. "

It is not surprising that you think democracy is bullshit. You are a Liberal. That says it all.

I am not required to get behind and support anyone. I do so for Scheerr because he won fair and square.

Liberals do not like “fair and square” if it does not benefit them. So yes, Jack, I understand that you cannot understand that I support Sheer because he won is a fair democratic election. It is a concept beyond your perverted Liberal mind.
commented 2017-05-29 20:14:47 -0400
Chris. I for one am thrilled, after watching Scheer stick-handle his way around Rosemary Barton, and continued on to skewer the Liberals as anti-Free Speech and super mean spirited!! Oh it was a beautiful thing to watch!! lol. Your concerns will melt away first time you see him in action!! Got me excited that’s for sure!!
commented 2017-05-29 19:58:34 -0400
Peter Netterville,

Bullshit. It has nothing to do with democracy. You have no choice – you have to get behind the leader if you want Trudeau out.

The point is that Scheer was not viewed as a good choice prior to the election by people here. In other words, a bad candidate won by comparison to the candidates most people here wanted to win.

You are essentially pretending to be happy that Scheer won, when you wish Trost had won instead.
commented 2017-05-29 19:35:07 -0400
Off the top of my head, I recall interviews with Maxime Bernier; Andrew Scheer; Michael Chong; Kellie Letich and Brad Trost. I think Pierre Lemieux spoke at a Rebel event, and may have also had an interview.
Some Rebels asked Ezra to name his candidate, he gave an excellent response as to why he would not be doing this.
Now that we have an elected leader of the Conservative Party, whether this person was first on your ballot or not, I think it’s time to move forward.
commented 2017-05-29 19:31:38 -0400
Jack, you really are a dullard.

Most people at The Rebel hoped for Trost or Leitch but since neither of them won, we will now get behind the new leader that was elected by the party democratically.

It is too bad you cannot understand democracy, but then you are, after all, a Liberal. And one thing Liberals a known for is only supporting democracy when it goes their way and attacking the democratic process when it does not. Conservatives are better than that sort of duplicitous behavior.
commented 2017-05-29 19:25:15 -0400
I guess we will have to see what happens now with the Conservative party.

One thing is for sure, the CBC and the rest of the MSM is going to do their best to rip him apart. Faith Goldy is correct. Andrew Scheer’s fight will not be against the Liberal party so much as against their corrupt ethical values challenged attack dogs, the CBC.
commented 2017-05-29 19:17:11 -0400
It’s funny how The Rebel kept pushing for Trost and Leitch and focused on them mostly – they certainly didn’t want Scheer to win, but now that he has, the agenda has changed and now The Rebel is going to go into Andrew Scheer hype mode.
