Rebel Media was barred from Liberal MP Arif Virani’s Environment Town Hall, but a curious little sideshow taking place at the event caught our attention.
A man named Michael Rosenberg who heads up something called, the “Coalition Against Technological Development” was handing out pamphlets entitled “Advancing Technology Causes Scarcity, Poverty and Environmental Damage” at the Swansea Town Hall.
The group is indeed a collective that thinks technology is... bad, but how so? I thought post-industrial revolution our quality of life, on just about every measure, is better?
Nevertheless, Rosenberg’s manifesto makes for a junk-science diatribe, cherry-picking dubious stats in an attempt to prove his ludicrous thesis.
As for his solution? Well, it involves everyone embracing low tech and partying like it’s 1799, when life expectancy was about 35 years and 40 per cent of children died before reaching adulthood.
Ah, the good ol’ days!
I have no idea if Rosenberg was there to support Liberal MP Arif Virani or to criticize him since he wouldn’t speak to us on camera, despite our efforts.
Come to think of it, if Rosenberg isn’t already affiliated with the Liberals, he’d surely fit right in with their “Do as we say, not as we do” philosophy.
