The National Energy Board hearing in Montreal was supposed to be a fact-gathering effort for TransCanada’s proposed Energy East pipeline project that would create thousands of jobs.
Ideally it would have been an opportunity for those in favour of the project to present facts that might change minds but for anti-oil protesters, facts don’t matter.
Police made some arrests inside when things got out of hand but what was interesting, was what was happening outside where members of the UA union were protesting in SUPPORT of Energy East.
Watch as I also give some attention to the UA union which represents plumbers, welders and pipe fitters who would benefit from the project.
Unfortunately, they’re fighting against a tide of their union brothers and sisters who are funding many of the groups that want the oil to stay in the ground.
