According to my Power Stream Power Report Card, I’m a loser. Out of 100 households in the area, mine is ranked #84 and the higher the number, the more of an energy pig you are.
Welcome to Ontario, a province where the utilities are actually shaming their customers to do better.
Maybe I am a loser but still, I’m mystified by my poor ranking.
Reviewing all of the measures we’ve taken to reduce our energy consumption, I honestly don’t know what my family could have done differently to conserve more energy so I called them to ask, what gives?
First I’m gouged and then I’m shamed? Is that any way to treat a customer?
Even worse, when I asked if the power companies would also grade the Wynne Liberals on how they’ve handled the energy file, I received a “no comment”.
Yeah, because we wouldn’t want to offend the knobs at Queen’s Park who are responsible for the energy mess we’re in. That would be impolite.
Better to take it out on paying customers who are getting crucified by energy costs no matter how much they try to conserve.
But then again, what do I know? I’m a loser.
