As Canada’s economy tanks, McKenna to “nag” G7 leaders to ban plastics

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

Canada's environment Minister Catherine McKenna is pushing for a ban on plastics at the upcoming G7 meeting.

McKenna made the announcement about her new “zero plastics waste charter” from Cancun, Mexico where she was at an International Conference on the world's oceans. She is asking the world to have 100 per cent reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging by 2030.

Canada, as the host nation, holds the presidency of the G7. It’s an opportunity to build lasting economic relationships with our G7 partners.

But instead - just like our natural resource wealth - Canada will be squandering this incredible opportunity and pushing the world's industrialized countries to adopt new goals for plastic recycling and waste reduction.

Trump is threatening tariffs on our steel if Canada doesn’t come to the table and abandon our social justice interference in NAFTA negotiations. The Canadian dollar has fallen to its lowest point in months as NAFTA, Trump’s advantageous tax regime and an inability to get our resources to market take a bite out of our currency.

Canada has an opportunity at the G7 meeting to rebuild our fractured relationship with our American neighbours, but instead, Canada is lecturing world leaders about their garbage.

Trump is playing chess and Trudeau is busy sorting paper and plastics.

MAURICE POTVIN said, " but how about starting another petition asking our disgraced Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, to resign? I’d definitely sign that one."

Instead of that ban, get to work on the 8 rivers that create 80% of the plastics in the ocean – 1 in Nigeria – 1 in India and 6 in China.

Maurice please consider signing House of Commons Petition E-1560
Sponsored by Conservative MP Larry Miller
Whereas:
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has demonstrated the lack of security protocols to prevent the invitation of convicted terrorists to state dinners in other countries.
We, the undersigned, Citizens of Canada, call upon the House of Commons to:
1) Engage in an open investigation and report on all failures in the PMO related to national security and international relations of Canada abroad or other related security matters;
2) Present revised security policies and procedures to address lapses in security and international relations as a result of such; and
3) Complete a thorough investigation of the most recent incident involving India and to clearly delineate the failures of those responsible.

I signed that petition, Sheila, but how about starting another petition asking our disgraced Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, to resign? I’d definitely sign that one.

I’ve been to Mexico and other parts of the world where plastics are strewn about along with loads of other garbage, and the goal of a “zero plastics waste charter” is a worthy endeavour.
Sheila, let her spout about “plastics” at the G7 because we don’t want these Masters’ in economics focusing on how to improve the world’s financial systems. I also hope a new NAFTA or US/Canada trade agreement will be put off until after the next election when, hopefully, the adults will take over in Ottawa.
But it appears reality may be setting in: Freeland did not use the words indigenous, gender, or climate-change in today’s statement on the steel tariffs and NAFTA.

Does anybody remember when under Harper’s administration, the Canadian dollar was for quite a while above the US dollar, and when it went below was only hovering a few pennies below.

Harper has a degree in economics, and it was reflected in the strong Canadian economy while he was in office.

If only we had Harper for PM now.
