Before Brexit, before Trump, Rob Ford rode populist wave into Mayor’s office

David MenziesMission Specialist

Rob Ford, that human seismic force who created an earthquake in Toronto’s left-wing political establishment, has been dead for a year now.

Before there was a Brexit and before there was a President Trump, there was Rob Ford, a man who rode a populist wave straight into the Mayor’s office, winning by a landslide.

The man was beholden to a heartfelt mantra of, “Respect for Taxpayers”, three words that were much more than an election slogan. It was a philosophy, one that drove Rob Ford.

Rob loved the common man driving the common van and he despised the City Hall gravy train.

Watch as I share some unforgettable memories of Rob Ford.

While there will never be another Rob Ford, there will always be an appetite for courageous politicians who embrace the “respect for taxpayers” mantra like Rob did.

And this, I should think, will ultimately prove to be Rob’s everlasting legacy.

Rest in peace, Mayor.

Gonna be funny watching the left do nothing about sharia patrols in Toronto.

Ritchie the media did not falsely claim Tory was cheating on his wife like they did to Ford, he did not say he was eating his wifes pussy either, or did you not see the video?
commented 2017-03-23 22:36:53 -0400
Richie when did he commit fraud you lying fool? And how did his drinking cost the taxpayer a cent? And Justin is making Canada look bad , as is Toronto(Canadas Anus). And you have not presented any facts.

The Tree Ezra had every right to criticize the HRC , the law society had no right to punish him for it. And he resigned moron, if they had such a strong case then why did they accept it? TOO AVOID PUBLICITY!
Now try again fool.

The Tree no he was not sued for lying you halfwit. He did not lie in any way. Now go see the CBC for some actual lies. Please show me those lies you are yapping about? And being disbarred does not mean you lied halfwit. Lawyers police themselves and will kick out someone not part of their group think. But keep on thinking you are smart LMAO!

Rob Ford was a man of the people, he proved that over and over again. He had some issues in his life that he was battling, but they never got in the way of him doing his job. Those on city council that conspired against him to limit his authority as Mayor were jealous of his popularity, the fine job he was doing and they were the ones riding on that Gravy Train. That is why they wanted Rob out of office so that they could continue with their corruption. John Tory is a fence walker, who worships at the altar of political correctness, has no solutions for challenges within the inner city, he has not resolved any issues of concern and will do the bidding of the Provincial and Federal Liberals when called upon. His politics could not get him a win as Premier, he was lucky to get the job of Mayor. He is out of touch with the people and has already proven to be a disappointment but he got voted in because he seemed like the candidate that would do the least amount of damage.

John Rob,

I am 45 years old and own my own business.

My comments to you were not meant as insults – they were just accurate comments about you if choose to ignore the indisputable reality about Rob Ford and want to romanticize about him instead in a way that has nothing to do with FACTS.

Yep – Toronto loves John Tory, but nobody is perfect. He will however be re-elected because he is actually doing a great job and his approval rating reflects that. He also doesn’t talk about eating his wife’s pussy on national television, so that’s also a bonus.

I will say it agin, slowly this time for you, Rob Ford will always be a saint to me for one reason alone, that being the fact that he kicked Slitherman out of politics. He could have done nothing else and I would still have led the charge to canonize him for that one accomplishment.
Second, your lame and ineffectual epithets towards me are nothing but cliched jargon that I’ve heard a thousand times from the inexperienced, welfare cases and dumb students. If you think John Tory (they guy who wanted to make you pay for using roads in your city) is a better mayor than Ford, I suggest you go out and get a job, begin paying your own way and learn some life lessons, because as it stands right now, you are giving yourself away as either a teen or someone who is living off of handouts.
The fraud you refer to so often is well known to us all, he raised about 12,00 for his football team using city letterhead,ih my, such a real crime now isn’t it? Meanwhile, we had two persons (Miller and Mcguinty) who had dream jobs in Ontario and the both of them suddenly ran away from those dream jobs, ever ask yourself why?
No, because you’re too stupid, or just an inexperienced little boy who runs around repeating what you hear with no ability of thought in your own head.
Now I’m done with you, punk.

Thank you so much, David Menzies, for your eulogy of Rob Ford.
I live far away from the city of Toronto, but always appreciated Rob’s attitude toward fiscal responsibility, not to mention his ongoing intestinal fortitude in the face of relentless hostility from the media…..oh, and also Ontario police chief, Bill Blair (in the pink dress).
This video of yours made me cry, David.

John Rob,

It is your choice if you want to remain delusional, ignorant and live in denial by ignoring facts, due to you getting a warm feeling over his stop the graving train and speak for the little guy talk.

Are Sean and Richie the same troll?"

Likely, and others as well. Payroll has opened up again for Sean (and other monikers). Question is who is paying him (them)? Soros, the CBC, or Jihadi Justin?
commented 2017-03-23 14:19:23 -0400

I guess it’s because no one gives a f—ck what you say.

Why are you Ford supporters ignoring the fact that he:

1. Constantly lied and greatly embellished his achievements under scrutiny and fact checking.

2. Committed fraud more than once.

3. Was friends with known criminals.

4. Lied about and wasted taxpayers time and money over being a junkie and an alcoholic.

5. Embarrassed Canada to the rest of the world over his action, the stupid things he said and video footage of him acting like a buffoon.

You know it takes more than simply saying that you are for the little guy and giving 20 dollars to black people in poor Toronto apartment buildings to secure votes. Actions speak louder than words and Rob Ford was a stupid man, who didn’t have a clue what he was doing. The answer to every political question isn’t stop the gravy train, but that is what he would say when asked about anything.

Trust me, Toronto is much happier with John Tory.

Rob Ford has his demons no one can deny that, but he was a mayor FOR the people no question. The media demonized him endlessly and even had the insensitive odasity to interview his small son on the front lawn of the Ford home directly after the funeral. Typical leftist MSM. RIP Rob Ford!

Hey, Drew! Do your own research on Ezra Levant! He gave up his right to practise law to avoid the embarrassment of being disbarred. He has been successfully sued for lying. If I were to put a banner with EZRA LEVANT IS A LIAR across a highway overpass, Levant would have no grounds for slander.

Richie how about you do some fact checking on Obama he was a horrible president.

The Tree i think you put the wrong link, the only bozo we know is our PM.
commented 2017-03-23 01:17:18 -0400
Was pathetic watching the media party hound him like fanatics, of course idiot trolls will mention the crack, but they hounded him long before they knew of an crack. Of course facts don’t matter to trolls.
And it is pathetic how the trolls and media had a friggin cow when he used some letterhead for charitable purposes , and then they are fine with Justin using taxpayer paid shills for campaigning which only helps the party. SAD HYPOCRITES.
commented 2017-03-23 01:14:21 -0400
The Tree show us these proven lies? You are the only liar here. Except maybe for Penson.
commented 2017-03-23 01:13:16 -0400
Richie sorry but Rob Ford was a great mayor, and some guys opinion on a website is not fact checking and when did he commit fraud?
commented 2017-03-22 22:47:58 -0400
Terry asked, “Are Sean and Richie the same troll?”

I think Sean Penson has a large number of alternate aliases on this website, but nothing can be proven without the website log files.

Rob Ford was a horrible mayor, who lied about pretty much everything.

In addition, his accomplishments were laughably exaggerated when put under scrutiny and fact checking. Rob Ford also committed fraud, but if that wasn’t enough, he was a drunk and a junkie, who hung out with known criminals.

Rob Ford was an embarrassment to Toronto and we are better off without him. John Tory is actually doing a damn good job and will be re-elected.
commented 2017-03-22 20:30:34 -0400
He may have popular to some, but he’ll remain comic relief to others.

He was deeply troubled with self confidence issues and addiction to crack.

He was respected, overall, by his opponents. Although he carelessly maligned his opponents with hysterical cheap shots, they responded with love and affection

Good one David Mensies. So much has happened since Robs passing, it’s hard to believe it was only a year ago. We could use a little Rob Ford right about now. He was the best Mayor Toronto has ever and likely will ever see.
Rock on Rob.
