Ben Levin gets 3 years for child porn; now a registered sex offender for life

Emily PrattRebel Correspondent

I was at the courthouse today when former Deputy Minister for Education Ben Levin was sentenced to three years in prison for child porn related offenses.

Levin -- who played a role in shaping Ontario's controversial new sex-ed program -- will also have to obey certain stipulations after his release.

Along with restrictions on his movements and employment, Levin must submit a DNA sample and will be considered a registered sex offender for life.

I hope the inmates have a cute little sailor suit for him to wear.

Three years isn’t much, however take the conditions required of levine after release he will almost be confined to a walking prison, good. Also when one considers the usual lax sentences handed down to criminals by our liberal minded judiciary I think this one was better than most of us suspected he’d ever receive.

Anne said, " . . . but what it would do is keep them from re-offending and away from children. "

Yes, a longer sentence would keep them off the streets for longer because it is unlikely they will change to the better while in there . . . unless, they receive the same treatment they would give to a child they molest. Stick them in with general population.

We all agree 3 years is not enough and a more severe sentence would not change anyone who is perverted in this way, but what it would do is keep them from re-offending and away from children. 25 years would be appropriate, after all at his age he might not live long enough to see the end of that kind of sentence. Problem is, he probably won’t serve the whole 3 years, as is usually the case, they’ll clear him out in likely half the time. Why is it judges don’t seem to appreciate what a really heinous crime child pornography is? Those children pay a lifetime price and in my opinion everyone involved in child pornography/abuse should also pay a lifetime price.

Gosh. Who will Wynne ever get to update her sex-ed program now?

How many more of these pervs are entrenched in the Liberal-perv administration.

At least this diddler got some time, not enough, and at least he got federal, instead of provincial time. He’ll be doing his time in Protective Custody with all the other short eyed scum who need protection from the general population…unless he’s sent to a country-club-jail…Hug-a-thug and Hug-a-pedo ‘justice’ at work in Canada…

These poor children are serving a life sentence. But really, poor old Ben did say he was sorry. Sorry judge not severe enough, not even close.

In my opinion, any child abuse convictions should carry a very serious sentence. Three year does not seem enough even with the other restrictions and stigma that will follow him for the rest of his life.

Children are precious and vulnerable and as a result any abuse should be met with sever penalties. It the penalties were considerably more sever, there would be less offenses taking place. The rate of violations would steadily decrease. There is something good to be said about being tough on crime, especially when it comes to the children.

I don’t think that is too shabby. 3 years, can’t work with children , can;t be anywhere near children under 16, and must report and register as a sexual offender. Life as he has known it is over. Who knows, maybe he will get cranky in jail and bring some other people involved down with him.

Not enough – but wynne loves his new school program – she might call me a homophobe but I call her a HomoNazi

She likely knew his little games and tolerated them until the program was written – she has an agenda – and your kids are her target

I noticed cbc, ctv and the star were not allowing comments on the articles they posted on the internet

Okay now let’s get going on wynnes prosecution.

Okay, different story. I see.

Good news. But the constable echoes what OPP Michele Paradis said after Bernardo was arrested, that the purchasers of child pornograpy are professionals like Levin: doctors, lawyers, police executive … judges … Don’t be fooled into thinking such people won’t hurt kids. Be careful.
