Beware NDP “doublespeak” on putting Pickering Nuclear Power Plant out to pasture

David MenziesMission Specialist

Apparently, NDP leader Andrea Horwath wants to mothball the Pickering Nuclear plant even though there’s a request before the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission to renew its operating licence for ten years past its August 31st expiration date.

Horwath can’t wait to see the wrecking ball come to Pickering, but should this socialist form the next government and put Pickering out to pasture, then what?

PC Leader Doug Ford notes the facility is responsible for 4,500 jobs across Durham Region and contributes $600M in savings to Ontario hydro bills. Even the Liberals are onboard with Doug in opposing the NDP’s harebrained scheme.

The NDP election platform doesn’t specifically mention plans to shutdown nuclear power, but does state that a key part of addressing oversupply will include:

An independent, fact-based evaluation of when to take Pickering offline and begin creating jobs for the decommissioning of the plant.

In Orwellian double-speak, eradicating a power plant and the electricity it generates is good according to the NDP due to all those temporary demolition jobs that will be created.

David, I think the Menzoid needs to put on his deerstalker hat and find out what Generation Trudeau thinks of Ford’s Buck a Beer platform. It is high time for some serious investigative journalism.

The last time the NDP had a chance to ruin Ontario it was a major shit-show. It took years to undo the damage that was done.

I’m sure Horwath will make many more jobs if she closes down the Pickering Plant. She will probably have all those illegals of Trudeau’s pedaling their hearts out, while on bicycles, hooked up to the power grid. Lots of jobs on rotating shifts and a hundred percent green energy. Failing that, I recommend you all buy a gas fueled generator before there aren’t any left on the shelves. It’s going to be hot summers with cold winters to follow. And it’s back to the stone age because Ontario voted wrong again and voted in the NDP (No Damn Power).

- Ontario, thanks to the Liberals. has “dirty” electricity – meaning it’s somewhat unstable, with many spikes. The NDP want to take us to the point where we will have rolling blackouts & brownouts.

The plant’s due to close in 2024 anyway, since it’s not cost-effective to refurbish. It won’t be closed in August, the timeline is far too short. It took McGuinty nearly a decade beyond his original promises to close down the coal plants, and that’s a simpler task.

The unions will cover for their new political puppet. I hope ON votes for Ford. Get ready for the complete melt down attack on Ford until the election.

If Andrea was President of Egypt she would tear down the Pyramids to create
jobs for her union buddies.
Just watched the reaction to the Kinder Morgan buyout from Andrew Scheer.
What a wimpy performance by the little smiling Chipmunk .
