Billy Hallowell: Conservatives should infiltrate pop culture, not just criticize it

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

The late Andrew Breitbart liked to say that "politics is downstream from culture." Author Billy Hallowell joined me on last night's show to talk about his new book on that very topic, Fault Line: How a Seismic Shift in Culture Is Threatening Free Speech and Shaping the Next Generation.

Space Moose,

I think it’s more than just that. Conservatives also have a problem with the extreme violence, nudity, sexuality, mature content and coarse language that most people love from the Hollywood machine and think people want more wholesome content.

Entertainment should be politically neutral. I don’t want to get preached at. I just want to be entertained.

Art VanDelay,

No one is talking about pop or reality stars. Some of the best movies and TV ever have been made in the last few years.

Infiltrate Hollywood? Too late, communists did that decades ago, just ask McCarthy (or any Hollywood producer). At this point it’s like saying the 1930’s German government just needed more Jews (tip of the hat to Tim Allen). Ditch Hollywood and create something new, more or less what Clint Eastwood has done. BTW Ritchie, the reason is the crap that Mozart and Pavarotti produced can never compete with the high brow content of Miley Cyrus and the Kardashians. What people find entertaining starts largely with their level of education. Ergo: it’s 2017.

There is a reason why conservative/faith based content typically bombs – outside of a very small group of exceptions like say Passion Of The Christ. The reason is that the general public doesn’t want to watch that crap if you look at the list of the top TV shows and movies – which are anything but conservative.

It would seem that free speech will soon be a thing of the past. Compliments of our, ‘not so Prime’ Minister, Dicktraitor Trudeau.
