Black Barbie’s “inappropriate” hairdo triggers social media outrage

David MenziesMission Specialist

Toy manufacturers have stepped up in the inclusivity file over the last many years by making dolls that represent different ethnicities and now the ultimate conformist doll, Barbie is available in different shapes, sizes and skin tones.

But when Mattel released its latest rendition of its iconic doll, many were unhappy with Black Barbie’s hairstyle.

Stated one commentator on social media:

“Who’s bright idea was it to style the AA Barbie’s hair like that. All of these beautiful brown women in all industries, you couldn't find ONE to look to for hair inspiration? You need to remove her and start from scratch IMMEDIATELY!!”

Has the Self-Perpetuating Eternal Grief Industry really lowered itself to losing their stuff over the hairdo of a made-in-China piece of plastic?

Maybe they’ll come out with a list of acceptable hair styles black women are allowed to have.

… Matt Groening’s quote of 2018.
… “ We are at a time in our culture when people love to pretend to be offended”.

Sorry Menzies, I have an anti Trudeau rally to go to on June 2nd at my local city hall. In fact the rally is being held all across the country at city halls from 11am to 1pm local time. I would be more than happy to speak to you and my fellow Rebels more about this Great Canadian Ralley. I can be reached by email at jonathan.bryant@bellaliant.net. Maybe The Rebel could even spare a crew to go to the one in Toronto.

The black woman across the road from my daughters home has brilliant blonde hair. So do both of her black daughters and the other is red.

Did she and her daughters culturally appropriate?

Or can only white folks be blamed for that?

LOL……..

No she is not promoting slavery but if the white girl buys a Barbie that’s black with blonde hair that’s cultural appropriation… LOL

Sounds to me that whoever made this comment is a blatant racist, trying to prove to the world that they are not. Perhaps they even have feelings of guilt.
