Does Brexit vote mean Canadians will get a referendum on electoral reform?

Brian LilleyArchive

Britons voted in something Canadians can only dream of right now, a referendum on an important political issue of the day.

With David Cameron losing the Brexit vote so badly, what does that mean for the majority of Canadians that want a referendum on electoral reform, and what can you do about it?

NO! We won’t be ‘given’ a choice…Justin has told us we no longer have a right to our franchise.
The escalation in frequency and arrogance in the West of our so-called elected representatives dictating to the electorate is growing. Has been for a while. We are being pushed into a corner. The result can only be violent revolution, or separation…before the inevitable collapse.
We are going down a dark road and we aren’t being given a choice…

“…Private Twitter exchanges obtained from #‎BlackLivesMatter leader DeRay McKesson’s hacked phone seem to indicate that Attorney General Loretta Lynch is at least passively participating in the upcoming “Summer of Chaos” aimed at shutting down both the Republican and Democrat National Conventions in July.
By shutting down conventions and creating chaos into November, ”tweet-url hashtag" href=“https://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23BlackLivesMatter” title=“#BlackLivesMatter”>#BlackLivesMatter activists want to so disrupt the process that President Barack Obama has an excuse to implement martial law and cancel the election…"

“…The Brexit matters to the rest of the world including the U.S. because of the brilliantly-destructive program of interdependency and globalism that has shaped our financial house for decades. Interdependency leads to extreme economic weakness because no piece of the global system has the tools to survive without the other pieces; and on top of this, when one part of the machine goes down, all the other parts are affected.
It is a truly horrible and seemingly idiotic system; but not so idiotic if you accept the reality that it is deliberately engineered to fail…”

Nigel Farage may be looking for work. The federal conservatives are looking for a leader. Give him citizenship as quickly as if he was a fake refugee and we have a winner!

Jay Kelly says: “In Canada the hope is that we recognize the value of tradition and democracy.”

In voting to leave the EU, Britain has recognized the value of tradition and democracy. The EU does NOT recognize the value of tradition and democracy.

Oh please Brian, you know better the that, Democracy is for foreigners, not Canadians – and now that “Canada is back”, democracy is truly on the operating table and will be made into Frankenstein mutant though surgical experimentation by the mad political scientists of Canada’s natural ruling junta.

Jay, it is quite evident that you know less than nothing about the EU, Britain, tradition or of history. You’re so far out of your depth that I almost feel the need to toss you a life jacket to keep you from drowning in your own ignorance.

“Jay Kelly they will not suffer, they were suffering under the EU. And who cares what commie globalists think of the UK now? They will be far better off.”

I agree with you Drew, Britain will be far better off.
Britain is the 4th largest financial contributor to the EU, the EU relies on their monetary contribution to the budget. Similar in concept to how Canadian provinces rely on Alberta for their contribution towards the provincial equalization payments. The elites are now crying in their lattes because they are losing a large portion of their EU budget which means less money to divvy among the remaining countries.

“Using the post-rebate figure, it’s more accurate to say the UK sends £35 million a day to the EU.”

The lefts arguments always remind me of the story of the 5 friends who go to breakfast every weekend. They are all in different financial positions… but they go to breakfast every weekend come rain or shine,
snow or wind, etc…and the tab always comes to $100
  1. is a self made millionaire and always picks up $80 of the tab
  2. is a middle class guys who picks up $20 because he wants to cover his fair 5th.
  3. makes a decent living but has a wife and 3 kids so his friends agree he can kick in part of the tip so in goes $10 and everyone’s okay with that as hes a nice guy and they don’t mind his being there as hes really trying to do more things to help out with his community and family.
  4. makes minimum wage now having lost his job but still wants to contribute and has a part time job so he pools his with #3 and together they cover the tip adding $5
  5. makes no money and has been unemployed for years in his mom’s basement since college but hes a good guy and they like him being there because he does his part to carry the conversation and they all started out as friends in the same school and grew up together.

On one fateful Saturday #2 is happy to announce his wife is pregnant and their is cause for celebration,,,
after things settle down a bit he brings up the fact he’s going to have another mouth to feed soon and he might not be able to put in as much or even make it for breakfast. 3,4,and 5 are very happy for his situation and say that #1 should be happy to cover the bill…but no one asked #1…
  1. however has been carrying 80% of the bill for years now and he’s actually finally fed up with these “Friends” and telling him what he’s willing to do with his money is the final straw… so ends the lunch by saying he’s done and they can count him out next week….

not saying the UK is covering the 80% in the EU but what Liberals and the leftists in the EU always seem to forget is the money they’re spending isn’t theirs to spend and maybe it might serve everyone in the EU better to talk with everyone and let all members have a say and opinion without jumping to conclusions that the UK or right are just loopy loonies without a say…

The UK leaving will not be the end…

Yvette, Yvette, Yvette. Do you not understand that the Liberals are the adults and you are a mere child? How could you presume to know anything that is good for you without first asking for guidance from The Great Leader? He will decide on the viable options and then you will get to select the candy he has provided. These are great and glorious days of magnanimity from those on high. All hail the beneficence of The Great Leader!

Democracy is great, but Brian Lilley and others would like to tilt it a bit to favour certain outcomes.

Britain had a referendum on whether to stay part of the European Union, and they voted no. It was a great democratic vote that in the end promoted a strong independent United Kingdom.

Unfortunately, all the citizens of Britain will suffer from a weaker currency, lower property values, and lower respect around the world.

Sadly, side-effects of this vote may well include an independent Scotland and a united Ireland quite separated from the U.K.

In Canada the hope is that we recognize the value of tradition and democracy. Without it we will break apart.

On second thought if I had 100% assurance that if Trudeau goes ahead without the referendum & because of it angers Canadians enough to vote them out next election I would be totally in favour. Get the hell out & stay out.
commented 2016-06-24 23:13:32 -0400
WE WANT A REFERENDUM with ALL the options including first past the post on the list & not only the one chosen by their useless committee. So sick of gov’t putting their nose into everything & never consulting us, telling us what to do as if we are all children & it always ends up making everything worse. Just get out of our lives, I don’t need them to tell me what’s best for me, I know better than anyone else what’s best for me.
PLEASE Brian, I don’t want to look at that minister’s face again, she bugs me with her stupid incoherent rant.

My utopian thought of the day :
To force a democratic vote nowadays with Liberals in charge will require “big pushback” and lots of noise:
1) We would need the media behind us -at least one major outlet that provides full coverage and interviews to Canadian attendees and national polls / call in shows / news segments on democracy in Canada. When you get the countries attention, you force the liberals’ hand. Otherwise they just ignore us with comments like " …I have been given a mandate to do what I want…"

2) A way to provide transport via bus/train/flights to Ottawa for those who don’t have vehicles for the big protest on Canada Day or perhaps even for the entire week.

Just ideas, but what better venue to request a referendum in Canada on big issues than on Canada Day itself? Personally, I think a petition is great but in reality it will just be ignored by Trudeau and co. If they force this on us it will bite them hard in 2019. Canadians vented on the Libs big time and booted them out in the past for assuming they had the “right” to govern us at will.

HAHAHAHA good one Brian. We all know the answer to that, it would have taken a miracle before , now there is no way our dictators will let us choose such a thing.

What we have is the emergence of a fascist government in Canada. Rigging the electoral process would take us a long way towards securing fascism in the country. It stands to reason, that they wouldn’t want the people of Canada voting on their own fate. Remember just-in’s views on the people getting in the way.

The Liberals care nothing about democracy. In fact, they are anti-democracy. They want a Socialist, Marxist dictatorship. In fact, they want to do away with the nation state and come together under a one world government, directed by the enlightened socialist elite (in other words, people like themselves) because the unwashed masses (everybody else) have no idea what’s in their best interests. For Liberals in general, and Justin Trudeau in particular, hubris rules the day.

The first 40 seconds of Cameron’s resignation speech speak directly to this.

Cameron said “We should be proud of the fact that…we trust the people with these big decisions.” More to the point, “On questions about the arrangements for how we’re governed, there are times when it is right to ask the people themselves.”

Hear that, Justin? In some countries, they trust the people to decide things for themselves! Trudeau’s arrogance could be his downfall. How arrogant to presume that only he and his party are equipped to “fix” the electoral system that has served us nearly 150 years.

“Does Brexit vote mean Canadians will get a referendum on electoral reform?”

Hah, no. The Liebranos have dug in their heels claiming we are too stupid to understand and only they know what is best. Can’t impose a dictatorship by asking the people! Butts, the man behind the clown in the PM’s chair knows this!

The last one in Canada was a speech that mentioned losing to the the Ethnic Vote and the Elites !

Next Federal Election will end up with the sames results!
Can’t wait!

Ramadan Bombathon 2016 Day number 19

Muslims often insist that other religions are just as violent as theirs and that the bigger problem is “Islamophobia”.
We put that narrative to the rest each Ramadan with a running count of ALL terror attacks categorized by motive.

Motive – Terror in the name of Islam………………..Attacks = 147….….Kills = 1063
Motive – All other religions combined …………….Attacks = 0…………Kills = 0
Motive – By Islamophobes…………………………….Attacks = 0…………Kills = 0
