When highschool students at Brooklyn Tech celebrate prom on June 3, they're going to be forced to wait until 9pm to eat, because the event falls on Ramadan.
Students have even asked that the event at Pier Sixty be moved to a different date.
Senior student Pakeza Sahbbir won't be attending and told WABC, “Obviously the date wasn’t the best date.”
“You’re not suppose to listen to music during Ramadan, so that’s why it’s not really allowed,” the student added.
What do you think? Is the decision to not serve food until 9 forcing Islamic practices onto others?
