Calais “Jungle” houses economic migrants, NOT true refugees — Meet the ones who want to come to Canada

Lauren SouthernArchive

While on assignment in Europe, I spent a lot of time in France's Calais "Jungle." It's often referred to as a "refugee camp," but none of the men I interviewed fit the definition of "refugee."

Most of them want to cross the channel into London, but others told me their ultimate destination is Canada.

Failed Islamic states generate a swarm of people (mostly young men), who seek a better life. It is unfortunate. But western countries cannot accept responsibility for this structural problem. What’s the solution? It’s expensive, but we need a development bank, funded equally by wealthy Gulf nations, and western democracies. I would say the two sides should contribute equal amounts of cash – say $10 billion, each. The money would go into qualified projects, but subject to clear rules: i) beneficiary countries must support real democracy (not some hybrid form of state-sanctioned terrorism, like Hamas); ii) funds must go into social and economic needs, such as housing, schooling, infrastructure, judicial reform, health (and not a penny to religion); and iii) Islam must be secularized such that government, schools, and institutions are run by professionals, and not ignorant hate-mongering Muslim clerks. That’s the solution. It’s complex, expensive, difficult, and rational. And that is why no one wants to do it. Otherwise, we are just treating symptoms. Given the choice, most economic migrants would go home, if they could grow and prosper in their native lands. And who blames them?

I find it interesting that all these poor refugees, migrants or whatever you want to call them can stand around idly doing absolutely nothing.
It seems none of these poor penniless people can afford anything like food and so on. So where, pray tell, do,they get money for cell phones?
It seems that every one of them in the background of the video is talking on a cell phone.
Again, what do they do to earn the respect of the citizens of the countries they invade?
Again, looking at the video, we hear them bitching that there is nothing, no food, beds, latrines or even shelter.
But, do they try and keep their living areas clean? Look at the garbage around the tents. No wonder citizens of other countries don’t want them. They will bring this mentality of dumping averything where they stand when they are finished with it to the countries they are invading.
It’s in their nature . . . a simple look at the countries from which they came will show cities and towns with garbage all over the place. Just too lazy to keep things clean.

John Landry commented 2 hours ago :“Every migrant needs an opportunity to prove themselves. I say, give them that chance, after that give them nothing.”

They are invaders NOT migrants/refugees/asylum seekers.

Did not Justin Trudeau (out of the goodness of his heart and the hard earned money of the Canadian tax payer) bring close to 25,000 economic migrants to Canada this winter?
