Can you trust the source? Canada’s mainstream media bought and paid for by government

Holly NicholasRebel Commentator

Did you know that Corus Entertainment, owners of Global TV and a number of radio stations, are registered to lobby the government?

After researching Corus, I looked into Postmedia, who own 175 newspapers including The Sun, and Rogers Communications, owners of Maclean’s and Chatelaine magazines.

They were both registered to lobby too and have had several meetings with the government.

Watch as I give you an idea of the amount of government funding some of these publications get and show how often they still come back to the taxpayer trough for more.

The fact that layoffs are occurring and print editions are failing isn’t just a sign that digital media is taking over, it also shows that the mainstream media just can’t survive without government dollars.

Mainstream media companies lobby hard for taxpayer bailouts, but why should Canadians be paying for media at all, particularly media sources that can’t be trusted to be unbiased?

Jimmy Reece, you go ahead and continue to live in your socialist fantasy world where unicorns run free, pixie dust powers the world, and living in a Justin run media controlled communist dictatorship is all roses and love.

The rest of us will keep ourselves grounded in reality.

Leviticus 2013 commented – “So how do we go about fixing it or is it PONR.”

The key is competition and free markets – cut the CRTC’s mandate back to allocating bandwidths and take them out of regulating content or what Canadians choose to see on TV – stop protecting the markets of these pathetic sub-par Canadian media companies who are hooked into the LPC through licencing and kickbacks – free up publications as well – the dreck that we get deluged with in this market is like having CNN and Gilligan’s Island on all 500 channels.

As for broadsheets, no one reads them for news or commentary any more but the older gens who are not net literate or the 1% who globalist/partisan messaging appeals to, they will either survive on line or fold, Opinion in the net age is profuse, why pay to have some old partisan hack spew their scripted talking points and globalist narratives at you, that’s only appealing to morbidly conformist political autistics stuck at public school intellectual levels. I predict the next thing to go will be monolithic partisanism – public opinion and perspective is too diverse for these old messaging vehicles.

Apparently in all your research, you didn’t come across the fact that Paul Godfrey and Post Media across the board endorsed Stephen Harper and the Conservatives in the last election.

Bez Bez—-Good post, going by the American Media, one would think that everyone hates Trump. Actually we don’t know how most Countries think, as we are forced to listen to their media which is usually out of touch with the people. The exception is France, as we know how they think., and they will get what they voted for. Some French entrepreneur should open up a body-bag business as there will be a great future demand for this product.

@ Rob Greeley – watch for the media to play this card you talk about – probably 6-8 months before the next election – which the pink socks boy will win – hands down. He will easily win the next election.

I do not blame the politician – I blame the voter.

The average Canadian is simply getting what s/he deserves.

Canada is now the new Sweden and enough people like it that way to maintain the present status quo.

I am starting to believe that if you have not “served” your country – in some manner – you should not have the right to vote. (that often gets me yelled at. LOL) – but the average Canadian voter is so uninformed and so naïve as to be a stupid putz on world and national issues. In all honesty I am beginning to not like a lot of Canadians.

I am in the US of A today and have been for a week. More than seven states and more than 10 cities – all on business for my company – a small outfit that does international work and does not receive a single government hand out. We survive on our own and employ quite a few Canadians.

I have not met one person down here – on the working class front – that does not support Trump. Funny how the media never talks to the common man and truly reports what he says.

I also have not met any people who trust or believe the mainstream media any more.

The Canadian MSM has concentrated ownership and guaranteed/protected market share (open breach of the completion act), and are controlled through the CRTC and heritage ministry – if they go off the page and return to true 4th estate journalism from the whitewashing pro globalist mush they pour out now they will be destroyed at the corporate level through government reprisals to their licensing and market share. They are lap dogs on a short leash – have been since the late 70s. Now there is open subsidization that in pith and substance makes them an extension of government public messaging.

Pretty much what every other communist regime does but with happyface rainbow unicorn pixie dust sprinkled over the corruption.

What do expect from a man and his party that praises Communist China. More state run media is the logical choice. Canadian Media – Bell Teleglobe Media – CTV (Canada’s Pravda -The Official News Organ of the Liberal Party) and the CBC (Izvestia – The News Organ of the Liberal Gov’t) are just not enough. We need more.
Now be good peasants and do what the civil services overlords tell you to do.

TO: Justin Trudeau,
Why not bring back and subsidize the Horse Whip Industry since Canada’s employment numbers will be going up as a result of President Trump " Making America Great Again."
Premier Wynne will welcome this whip business as most of Her Ontario businesses have left for Lower Taxes in the US. Just think, no one else has thought of this type of business for 80 years, so there will be no competition. There will also be a large pool of possible employees to choose from as most people love Ontario’s new Minimum Wage of $15.00 an hour.
Please keep up your subsidizing policies as it is a win/win situation for Canada.

I find it tragic that the leaders of many of our News organizations and our governments don’t show any recognition or appreciation of a significant organization/management principle that impacts our Canadian culture and economy. Specifically, people who interact with any organization, as a consumer, a customer, a supplier or a supporter must have confidence in the honesty of the organization, for the relationship to succeed. But if the organization’s perceived honesty becomes questionable, its credibility is then suspect and the relationship with its suppliers, customers, et al, predictably deteriorates.

And if a rational and presumed need to ensure the organization’s survival motivates the organization to bend the rules, distort information and essentially mislead its customers and others, even if its just occasionally (nudge-nudge, wink-wink), this unspoken strategy eventually becomes known by all (or even just suspected!) and the organization’s credibility is lost. Ironically, the end result of the strategy to ensure the organization’s survival is a major cause of its death.

I’ve had friends in the media and government for years and they’ve all been super citizens and ethical people. But still, whenever I see certain media or government elites on TV, my first reaction (because of some of their organization’s behavior) is to wonder what the truth really is behind whatever they’re reporting, or choosing not to report. For me, anyway, that organization (whether a political party or a News Broadcaster) is a failure and no longer a believable source of any information.

The main stream media bought an paid for by the government? No, say it isn’t so! I am shock … and horrified … and flabbergasted … and … and being sarcastic.

The CBC is the mothership suck up to Justine “the feminist” Truedope.

But even though they gladly accept Justine’s $1.875 billion dollar annual bribe, they are more than happy to suck up to Justine anyway. They are all (except maybe a few) socialist fools.

All media must either sink or swim: NO taxpayer subsidies.
Note to Scheer: If you’re going to successfully defend yourself and the CPC from the onslaught of pro-Liberal media bias, make it perfectly clear to all Canadians (repeating yourself until you’re blue in the face if you have to) that the CPC promises to eliminate taxpayer subsidies and grants for CBC and other media.
Canadians aren’t as stupid as Trudeau likes to think we are. More and more will realize the media bias is because of laziness: It simply doesn’t want to modernize nor become unbiased, which it would have to do if it were to survive without taxpayer funds.

This is European style crony capitalism. Connected companies get government money which means that they can be trusted to support the status quo. These media companies have a vested interest in suppressing alternate news outlets and can work together with government to achieve this. At the same time, government says it does not have enough money to reduce medical system waiting times. But then, Mr. Trudeau, other politicians, officials and connected corporate executives aren’t on waiting lists.

No we should not be paying for Nation wide broadcasting of the brainwashing media(cbc) that are one sided for the liberal globalist control freaks! They the media should also be ashamed(arrested)themselves..after all you had a hand in this deception..Disgusting!.. to say the least.
