Canada 150 logo joins long list of publicly-funded graphic design fails

Have you seen the Canada 150 logo yet? If you haven’t, you likely will over the next 12 months because it’s going to be displayed across the country as part of Canada’s sesquicentennial.

What the hell is it?

If you go to the Government of Canada’s website, you can find an explanation but that’s usually a huge fail in the graphic design business if you have to dig up a written explanation to determine what it is you’re looking at.

Watch as I explain what it is and take a look at some other logo fails courtesy of government and political parties.

When you see them all in one place, you too might ask yourself, why is it that so many governments and government-run agencies screw-up so often when it comes to logo design?

Perhaps it’s just a matter of business as usualwhen one combines the words “government” and “screw-up.”

It’s not great, and it certainly is a waste of taxpayer funds. But beyond perhaps being an exercise in overly-pretentious, self-congratulatory pretentious graphic design, it’s a stylized maple leaf and certainly far from awful.

Government priority>New Logos. Crumbling infrastructure? Is there a logo for that?

I know how to get them to change it-everyone say it makes them think of a Christmas tree.

Makes perfect sense to me:- It was probably designed by the offspring of the same gang that designed the CBC’s “exploding pineapple” logo several decades ago…

This is what you get when you have zero patriotism and you don’t give a shit about your country only money..

Lol, Dwayne. If you give that retard crayons, he’ll either stuff them up his nose or start grazing on the red ones.

How Liberal-friendly advertising firms design government logos:

1. Win rigged contract.
2. Demand millions of taxpayer dollars.
3. Demand more millions due to “technical problems”.
4. Have the CEO’s five year old kid draw a picture with a pen, a ruler, and some crayons and submit it.
5. Pocket the money (with the appropriate kickback to the Liberal Party)
6. Laugh at the stupidity of the Canadian voter.
7. Rinse and repeat.

The explanation given describing the 150 Logo also proves that, in Mr. Prentice’s words, “Math is hard”, for regressive left bureaucrats. Either they cannot count, or do not understand the term, base, in geometry. I only count two diamonds surmounting a vertical line as the base, and not four.

At least the logo does not look like a sugar maple leaf which is primarily a New England tree, and only represents about 5-10% of Canada. The sugar maple leaf certainly is not representative of the West, a good beaver on the other hand…

Had a good laugh this morning, these logos are hilarious!
Thanks David.
