Canada's Most Censored Journalist: Sheila Gunn Reid

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On last night's show, The Rebel's Alberta Bureau Chief Sheila Gunn Reid joined me to discuss the multiple attempts made to silence her journalism and the Canadian media's indifference to the attacks she's faced.

Sheila's been stopped from entering the Alberta legislature by an armed sheriff, banned from the United Nations Global Warming Conference twice, and punched at a rally by an NDP activist.

But the rest of the Canadian media doesn't care, no free speech or press freedom association have ever reached out to Sheila.

Groups like the Canadian Journalists for Free Expression would rather petition Justin Trudeau to ban Trump than fight for the rights of a conservative journalist.

Drew Wakariuk,

The fantasy world you live in really must be a wonderful place for you to want to proudly be ignorant and avoid reality. I guess as long as you are happy – stay in your world of pretend.

James Crockett Justin broke the law, FOUR COUNTS. That is REALITY!
commented 2018-01-19 21:02:38 -0500
James Crockett Canada will go down and the US will rise, no link or denial will change that.
commented 2018-01-19 21:02:06 -0500
James Crockett your link did not contradict anything. And companies go where they can prosper , it is quite logical. I guess a left winger may not get it though. FACT is money and jobs are coming to the US.
Are you saying they aren’t? LMAO!
commented 2018-01-19 15:51:15 -0500
No Crock, you need to do your own homework. You see, it works like this. I have done my homework and that is why I have my opinions. You cherry pick links to validate your point of view. I look for truth and logic and make an effort to read articles which are counter to my opinions. I check out their sources so I can see what the connections are and where their information came from. I watch trends and when I see one repeated from any one of my politicians, I take note, which is why I can say that the Conservative party has been co opted. There are but a few true patriots still in that party. The Liberals and NDP have none that I can see. If I only looked at one side of things would I say that? I am not going over the points I provided to counter what you are presenting in your links, yet again. I can only assume you are retarded.

Trudeau is a communist and a globalist. Scheer is a globalist but I believe he is being bullied. Justin licks boots voluntarily. I think Scheer is more reluctant, but he seems to be coming around to the idea as well.

It’s damn good shit Crock, if I’m making it up out of thin air. Which of course you saying that is proof you do no research past posting a link you think proves your point. You need to buck up. You can do better.
commented 2018-01-19 13:26:05 -0500

So Andrew Scheer is a communist, because you are extreme compared to his views?

Where have those links been debunked – you actually need to post links. Not just make up shit out of thin air.

Everyone knows the old guard Rep.s don’t like Trump , not new information.
Is your needle stuck or what Crockett?
Liza, isn’t it funny how “conservative” and unbending these lefties can be? It is further evidence for the three pillars of leftiedom:
1. they never learn from their mistakes
2. they never learn from other people’s mistakes
3. they refuse to exercise discernment.

Troll says, "It is reality that the Conservative Party want NOTHING to do with The Rebel to the point that they hope The Rebel crashes and burns. "

I agree with you troll, I told you that the conservative party has been co-opted. It is well known they are too chicken to come onto the Rebel.

“There is as much hate for The Rebel on the right as there is on the left. That is a reality you ignore, because you are in a extreme right bubble where reality can’t break through.”

I don’t argue that troll, except the part about the ‘extreme right bubble’. Everything looks extreme right when you are a communist.

The business decisions of the Rebel and any one who left or was fired isn’t really something I spend any time thinking about. Don’t care.

The links that you have decided to re post yet again have already been debunked.
Yes as fox states, employment stats in the US for 2017, Trumps first year (and before tax changes and business started returning) still read low. Next years numbers will be the test for simpletons like yourself.

Everyone knows the old guard Rep.s don’t like Trump , not new information.
Is your needle stuck or what Crockett?

liza rosie,

It’s funny that you talk about reality, but completely ignore it.

It is reality that the Conservative Party want NOTHING to do with The Rebel to the point that they hope The Rebel crashes and burns.

It is reality that Rebel staff you used to love, have bailed this place because they couldn’t take the crazy anymore.

There is as much hate for The Rebel on the right as there is on the left. That is a reality you ignore, because you are in a extreme right bubble where reality can’t break through.

Andy Neimers,

Yes, I realize The Rebel lovers don’t like facts and logic. All that matters is what Ezra says.

In the past, I have been hard on Fox News, but I have to give them credit for calling out Trump’s bullshit.

Fox News Research: Trump’s First Year in Office Worst For Job Growth Since 2010.

Of course you will ignore this. Let Ezra and John Cardillo do your thinking for you.

I’m sorry Sheila this has gone way off topic.
People don’t like to have to question their reality. The left censor out of insecurity. You are a force to be reckoned with and they know you will unveil things they don’t want unveiled. Shame on msm for not standing for free speech for all journalists not just the ones who have ‘right’ think. I love your closing line every show . ’Don’t let the government tell you you’ve have had too much to think.’
The CJFE’s banning of Trump in a stand for free speech was epic. Will go down in history as one of the most idiotic blunders ever.

…ah here we are, Project on Opportunity and Taxation at the Institute for Policy Studies. (Crockett’s fortune link)
A “think tank” for progressive research and action to create a more responsible society built around the values of justice, nonviolence, sustainability, and decency.

Clearly he has a deep understanding about how taxation works in the context of a healthy economy and consequently society. NOT.

There is a difference between working towards a healthy economy for a healthy society and trying to dictate business stay in a hostile taxation environment in order to satisfy a government’s wealth distribution scam. Make a climate which will enable profits to be the same or better than elsewhere and business comes back and guess what, comparable taxes are better than no taxes, which is what you get when you chase business away. The person who penned that article is doing nothing but virtue signalling = knows shit.
commented 2018-01-19 01:03:50 -0500
Wow, I don’t know who this JOSH HOXIE is who wrote that piece for Fortune, (director of the Project on Opportunity and Taxation at the Institute for Policy Studies and co-editor of Inequality.org.)
co editor of INEQUALITY.org might be a clue.

You know Crockett, you “screw” every comment you make when you toss out bullshit like “pretty much every economist on both sides calling the tax plan a joke”… “Every economist”?? “On both sides”… “A joke”.. You really should learn when to step back, take a deep breath, and stop concocting obvious B.S. hoping that “somebody” , "anybody"will buy it…
commented 2018-01-19 00:25:59 -0500
Andy Neimers,

I guess you haven’t read pretty much every economist on both sides calling the tax plan a joke – meaning that the bad far outweighs any good.

Perhaps you should read more than just The Rebel.
commented 2018-01-19 00:13:56 -0500
I’m guessing Crockett that you have never even read one page of Paul A. Samuleson’s classic Economics, now it in its 16th printing?… To wit:- taxes paid during a booming economy rapidly outstrip the lessened revenue from the initial tax reduction by the faith in that evident growth… That’s the “stimulus” scenario which the Americans are EVIDENTLY enjoying once again… And, unlike Canada, Trump’s team of advisors are well aware of how much debt they can incur… It’s the Boy Blunder’s “budgets balance themselves” moronic stupidity that should be keeping you up nights…

The sad truth is that there are very few real journalists left. If there were Sheila Gunn Reid would have more company on her quest to get at the truth. This is a definition of journalism I found, ‘Though it may be interesting or even entertaining, the foremost value of news is as a utility to empower the informed. The purpose of journalism is thus to provide citizens with the information they need to make the best possible decisions about their lives, their communities, their societies, and their governments.’ Sheila Gunn Reid is one of a vanishing breed and should be proud of the stir she causes. Thank-you Sheila.

James Crockett did you miss the news about Apple? LMAO!
commented 2018-01-18 23:51:32 -0500
James i will remember your comment as the US continues to prosper while Canada continues to tank.
commented 2018-01-18 23:48:48 -0500
James Crockett you fail to see the NDP leader is playing Justins game and he may add the race card. LMAO!
commented 2018-01-18 23:47:45 -0500
James Crockett it will add far less than Obama did to the debt. And that is only if they keep spending stupidly. If that amount of debt is so destructive while creating jobs then Obama creating way more debt in a shorter time while chasing business away must have been really bad, but you will not admit it.
commented 2018-01-18 23:25:29 -0500
The proof of the success of the tax cuts are already evident. That the deep state and old guard rep.‘s bad mouth it, is no surprise and is only a reflection of their own corruption and stupidity. What part of company’s returning does not compute to jobs for you lefties? More people will be paying taxes and the debt will be taken care of because of it. There is no problem no legitimate grievance. When the left can’t censor they attack even when it makes no sense to anyone but themselves.

Too bad you can’t listen to Ezra’s show tonite (make sure you catch the snippets) you might learn something. Even some of Trumps adversaries are having to admit his success. Some things you just can’t censor.
commented 2018-01-18 23:05:39 -0500
Troll, you ignore peoples points you can’t dispute and just keep repeating your ineffective argument.

I said, “The tax bill just got passed, industry is just starting to return. Next years numbers are the ones to look at Crockjack. But if you want to gloat over those expected results, fill yer boots.”
Your argument is a non starter.
commented 2018-01-18 23:03:12 -0500
I agreed with you troll, Justin may win, but he won’t do it honestly, and the price the country will pay will be a tipped demographic.
“I am sure this kills you.”
It does make me sick to my stomach because all that trade deal is, is an open door and open borders., for migrants to flow in and jobs to flow out. The opposition in this country has also forsaken Canadians. You are not telling me anything I don’t already know.

Troll, so what if the old guard Republicans hate Trump’s tax deal. Did you expect them to like it? Your arguments are full of holes as usual and non issues as usual nothing we don’t already know or dispute.

You come back in 6 months when the American economy’s bottom ‘falls’ out and rub it in my face moron. You’re a funny guy a regular comedian.

Manufactured grievance/real grievance, the left doesn’t know the difference.
commented 2018-01-18 23:01:12 -0500
Sure James use THE STAR to drive home your point.
Not exactly what you would call reputable or unbiased.
Thanks for the laugh.

“Its precise position in the political spectrum—especially in relation to one of its principal competitors, The Globe and Mail—is at times disputed but the Star is generally considered to be the most liberal of Canada’s major papers. …
In 1998, the Toronto Star purchased a majority stake in Sing Tao’s Canadian newspaper, which it jointly owns with Sing Tao News Corporation. Sing Tao (Canada) encountered controversy in April 2008, after media watchers discovered the paper had altered a translated Toronto Star article about the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games protests to adhere to Chinese government’s official line.36 Sing Tao’s then editor Wilson Chan was fired over this.”

liza rosie,

Apparently you are clueless as to how much that tax bill will add to the US debt, which in turn will make the bottom of the economy to fall out.

I will give Fox News some credit though unlike The Rebel, which never goes against Trump.

Not to mention every economist that calls the tax plan awful. If you want a list of those to better educate yourself since you can’t do your own research and think for yourself, let me know. Because I am quite sure you didn’t read one page of the tax bill, but are simply spewing talking points.
commented 2018-01-18 22:36:18 -0500
liza rosie,

Justin will win quite easily.

Oh by the way, did you see this:

Canada’s Conservative opposition is united with its Liberal government in support of the North American Free Trade Agreement

I am sure this kills you.

You also don’t know the difference between fear mongering and conspiracy theories spewed by The Rebel and reality.
commented 2018-01-18 22:33:41 -0500
The left doesn’t know a real grievance from a manufactured one.

The tax bill just got passed, industry is just starting to return. Next years numbers are the ones to look at Crockjack. But if you want to gloat over those expected results, fill yer boots.
