You probably didn't realize the reason Canadians are oblivious to the international Zionist conspiracy that has taken over their country is because they're hedonists perpetually drunk and stoned on pot.
Neither did I, and I've lived in Canada virtually all my life.
That bizarre tidbit of supposed information didn't come from one of the weirdo characters on the comedy show, The Trailer Park Boys, nor was it a clever satirist doing a Wayne's World style parody of our beer-and-hockey culture.
It was said in deadly seriousness by the Canadian contributor to Iran's state-owned propaganda network Press TV, Joshua Blakeney.
I actually love Joshua Blakeney. His intense paranoia and lack of self-awareness make his unintentional humor consistently hilarious. On the political end, he's an exemplar of why anyone in Canada who is affiliated with Iran's maniacal dictatorship has absolutely no credibility.
It's not that we in Canada don't like to party. We do. But Blakeney, who is originally from England, went on Iran's Press TV recently to describe Canadians in ways the rest of us might describe as... um... insane:
"...The vast majority of people in this society are fairly apolitical, of course and are focusing on self-indulgence. There's a big alcohol and drug problem in this society, so a lot of people aren't ah, cognizant of the political realities...most people haven't been encouraged, due to who owns the media, to have a clear and rational understanding of what is in Canada's national interest..."
Blakeney goes on to claim that there is "Zionist totalitarianism" in Canada, which he also describes as a "satellite-state of Israel." You know, the sort of stuff that demented neo-Nazis who believe that the US is controlled by a "Zionist Occupation Government" regularly say.
Explaining Canadians' apathy further, Blakeney asserts, "(m)ost people are just encouraged to be apolitical. I think a third of the Canadians imbibe marijuana, you know half the country's drunk every weekend, the media disseminates all kinds of junk TV to distract people..."
Right. It's a good thing Iran's ace correspondent is enlightening us to the knowledge that Zionist control of the media is why most Canadians would rather watch Game of Thrones than CBC Newsworld.
However, Blakeney is deeply embedded in the alleged "peace movement" in Canada, which has increasingly become infused and financially subsidized by Iranian-backed sources.
The website rabble.ca, which is published by the spouse of the federal NDP's Deputy Leader Libby Davies, also publishes Blakeney's incoherent ramblings. All the NDP leadership candidates, with the exception of Thomas Mulcair, have participated in rabble.ca sponsored-events, which shows the insidious rot in that party and the extent to which it has been corrupted.
Other Iran-backed "peace protesters" include Zafar Bangash, who is a de facto spokesman for Iran's interests in Canada and who is the main organizer of the anti-Semitic al Quds day rallies in Toronto. These rallies, centered around the depraved Ayatollah Khomeini's call for the destruction of Israel, also routinely feature the slovenly leader of what calls itself The Canadian Peace Alliance, Sid Lacombe.
The late Christopher Hitchens wrote: "It is really a disgrace that the liberal press refers to such enemies of liberalism as "antiwar" when in reality they are straight-out pro-war, but on the other side." Seeing the leader of the self-described Canadian Peace Alliance out in support of Iran's murderous dictatorship, hysterically condemning Canada's mission to fight Islamic terrorism, marching arm-in-arm with bloodthirsty supporters of the terrorists of Hezbollah, and calling for the elimination of democratic Israel, makes the truth of Hitchens' observation abundantly clear.
These miscreants have been in bed with each other for a long time. Party leader Thomas Mulcair may be rational, but such characters' close links to many of the NDP's senior caucus and much of their rank-and-file, and Mulcair's unwillingness to address that is a sign that Canada could be in for some troubling times ahead.
