Despite having seemingly no connections to radical Islam, the CBC and BBC scrubbed 'Ali' from articles about the Munich shooter with Iranian citizenship.
After Breitbart reported, the BBC refereed to the killer as only “David Sonbaly” on social media, TV and online coverage until they were exposed. They provided no explanation to Breitbart, but did quietly re-add the name Ali.
The CBC, meanwhile has chosen to refer to the shooter as simply as “ David Sonbaly” in a July 25 article titled “Mall shooting draws calls to tighten Germany's already strict gun laws”.
However, on July 23, in an article titled “Munich mourns after deadly mall shooting”, the shooter is in fact refereed to with his entire name, “Ali” intact. Why does the later article leave this out?
Worst of all is a July 24 Associated Press story posted on the site which calls the shooter simply “David S”.
