CBC, “regressive left” attack Jason Kenney's innocuous Aboriginal Day tweet

Candice MalcolmRebel Contributor

When do trolls on Twitter translate into national news? Well, when those trolls are from the regressive left and their target is a former Conservative cabinet minister.

Let’s look at a recent example from the CBC. The headline reads:

Jason Kenney called out on Twitter for poorly worded Aboriginal day message.

But, what exactly did this “poorly worded” message say? Kenney wrote:

On Aboriginal Day we honour those who first settled in Canada, and their generations of descendants.

Seems like a pretty nice tweet. Accurate and respectful of Aboriginal peoples who settled in Canada before the Europeans.

But the regressive left disagreed. The CBC story provides a handful of hysterical mob-like responses where trolls call Kenney a colonialist, talk about his privilege, and mock his use of the word “settler” to describe Canada’s aboriginal peoples.

They’ve decided “settlers” is their word, turning it into a derogatory term to describe the Europeans who came to the Americas centuries later.

It doesn’t matter that Kenney’s point is accurate:

The first people to settle in North America came across the Bering land bridge. Scientific evidence shows that, but regressive lefties don’t care about facts.

The CBC decided this was newsworthy and took a side. They say it was a poorly worded tweet, stating it as a fact. Then the reporter complains that Kenney failed to see why people were frustrated, showing his two follow up tweets wondering what the fuss is about.

How much of our money do these guys get again...?

Of course, no matter what it is, in this case a tweet by JK, which I find absolutely nothing wrong with, after all when you first come to a country, are you not settling there, however the left have to find something they don’t agree with, just because the tweeter is a conservative & to the CBC why don’t you report on real news like what’s happening at least he NB school, cowards.

I am reminded of this day…how many years ago…I forget….I was young and fit and jogging past the site of one of the earliest public pow wows in this part of Canada…they were just setting up…it was the site of the former Africville in Halifax…another subject…another story …I took a breather and got into a conversation with the emmcee of the event….a man with the sort of sense of humour that is the salvation of humanity…he said…

We were supposed to be having this at the World Trade and Convention Centre in downtown Halifax…but when our delegation arrived the clerk at the desk asked if we had a reservation…..(name redacted) just wouldn’t let that go…so now here we are camped out on Negro Point and (name redacted) is a guest of the Queen….

Oh, and Michael, I would absolutely agree that the news source I’m posting on has a point of view.
commented 2016-06-27 19:27:30 -0400

No I’m not in the fantasy world, you’re absolutely right. Every single new source on the planet is based one way or the other. But then we would expect new sources and dictatorial countries to be following the dictates of those the control them.

In a supposed democracy, someone that’s working for the public should be working for the public, not a puppet for the government that’s currently in power. Either we don’t live in a democratic country anymore or the public broadcaster is doing a disservice to its name, and the people it supposedly is serving.

I’m not saying that the CBC has to be more conservative, I would prefer if they just reported the facts, not favouring any political party whatsoever, and that people decide what they want to believe and not believe themselves. Or is it that people are too stupid to know what they should believe?

You are living in a fantasy world – every single news source on the planet is biased one way or the other. Including the one you are posting on.

There is no such thing as a neutral broadcaster – this is what you CBC haters can’t seem to understand. What you are really saying is that you want CBC to be more conservative.
commented 2016-06-27 18:36:37 -0400
cbc is a public broadcaster in name only, a true public broadcaster would report information to the public, all information, without editorial comment or any other manipulation of the information. It would then be up to the public to take what they’re interested in and leave the rest. cbc takes lots of money fraudulently as they are anything but a neutral broadcaster.

Same reason why the BBC gets money. CBC is the national public radio and television broadcaster for Canada. It’s not a private business.

Michael if they are so great why do they need all that money?

commented 2016-06-27 03:09:49 -0400
Michael Mann sorry i do none of that loser. Now be a good bigot. And by the way your labels do not make anyone guilty of what you call them.
commented 2016-06-27 02:23:36 -0400
Candice, you have no idea, do you?

These days, the Aboriginals do not hold the belief that they originated from crossing into North America from Asia. They honestly believe that the Kreator just put them into Turtle Island from out of thin air. Hence, this does not make them settlers, and makes them more entitled to their land. No, I am not making this shit up.

The regressive left has no substance, if they tried to use science that be laughed off the planet. All the left have is insults, trying to be little, taking the focus away from thought based reason and science, there is absolutely no one home.

As for the COMMUNIST BROADCASTING CORPORATION, if they weren’t stealing so much of our money to promote empty headedness, they would just be the joke they are.

Drew: Canadians go to the CBC website because they “own” the website. There are hundreds of complaints against its bias agenda on a daily basis, and that is only the complaints that actually permit. If you are still obtaining your news and forming your opinions based on what you read and hear on the CBC you are clearly permitting your intellectual capacity to be reduced by propaganda. If you enjoy being told how to think you are one of their loyal supporters, but I have faith in you Drew, you can still break free and again become a loyal and valuable citizen.

Mickey Mann . . . like your HookeySchtick your assessment of the CBC is laughable.

Vajay jay and little mikey mann……it is always entertaining to read the rhetoric from you and other leftist regressive fucktards. Vajay jay, there is on one made up word in the last sentence, “fucktard” and it is a word that is rather fitting. Little mikey mann…well, where do i start, how does one even consider any words from a coward hiding behind a fake name and spews hypocrisy in each post.
I just love seeing/reading the heads exploding in each post.
Still waiting for the call mik mann…LMFAO…..COWARD!

Kenny is the taget for the regressive left because he is the most skilled and viable federal leader in Canada today – the stark comparison between Kenny’s factual realistic debating style and the stuttering disjointed mouthings of the Liberal leader in need of a brain transplant, would be shockingly, embarrassingly obvious during question period.

The Liberal party-funded party propaganda wing CBC cannot let that occur so the soviet era purge is actuated before Kenny has thrown his hat in the ring. I would vote for him reflexively because he puts the corrupt bureaucracy and regressed left into fear shock – come on PM Kenny sharpen the sword of truth and prepare to mead the hordes of the dark side.

Jason Kenney for PM. At least he has original thoughts, unlike PM “Ahhhh what am I supposed to say Gerald?”

Funny how all the lefty television news channels are losing viewers and money. The only one that can stay afloat steals over a billion a year of taxpayer money. Let them all go under. I don’t and won’t watch any Canadian news channel anymore. Just look what it does to people like Jay and Michael. They are fuking retards.

You may have opened up a can of worms here Candice, or rather the regressive left did, or was it Jason Kenney…I rather liked the wording of his Tweet.
The Beringia Theory is just that, a scientific theory – not settled science.
Just like the Theory of Evolution, is scientific theory, not scientific fact, as it is being falsely taught and promoted today…
I enjoyed Farley Mowat’s insightful book, “THE FARFARERS”, and his thesis of who may have settled the Americas earlier than the Indians – which has of course been demonized by ‘academia’ – in spite of all the physical evidence (that hasn’t already been destroyed). Just like Mowat’s theory years ago, that wolves ate mice to survive in the north, not cariboo…and was demonized by academia and the Canadian government who employed him…until it was later proven true…
Then there is all the evidence being collected and destroyed by NAGPRA, about the ‘others’ who were settled here before the Asians became Indians (Proto-Amerinds), the Smithsonian dumping barges of the stuff in the ocean…
Before anyone wants to jump on this, answer one question:
Who built Stonehenge?

CBC is total garbage. Don’t even try to sell it. Just reduce their funding and let them die a quick and painful death.

Yes, because extreme conservatives are never intolerant, what with their racism, bigotry, hate for gay people, disgust for women that get abortions and everything in between.
commented 2016-06-26 02:35:49 -0400

Well considering how popular the CBC is and the fact that the majority of Canadians support it – with millions of people going to the website every day, it seems to me that Canadians are quite fine with the CBC.

Nobody cares what you think and the Conservative Party will NEVER try to defund it, because they will lose the election just on that promise.

CBC is the 23rd most popular website in Canada with a world rank of 1,024.

In other words, the CBC is incredibly popular all over the world in addition to Canada.

Jay Kelly tolerance is a 2 way street , the left has been intolerant for too long , now they get it back.
And regressive is an English word , Islamophobe is a made up word.

Michael Mann CBC is forced on people and they get over 1 billion a year handed to them , they are hardly doing great with what they have LMAO! Plus they lie and hide stories they do not like. That is the way children behave.

Keith Richards says: “Fuck off ya whiny cuck!!!!”

His comment is certainly strong in language. Is it really a response to the earlier comment?

Too often The Rebel readers and commenters are labelled as ignorant and idiotic.

Maybe we should be more tolerant. People on here have read the news story and have something to say about it. Out of respect we should hear their comments.
