China's civil rights crackdown in Hong Kong explained at Vancouver protest

Protests in Hong Kong over the pending “Extradition Bill” have erupted over the past week, causing 1 in 7 Hong Kong residents to take to the streets.

Angst over the bill is not restricted to the former British city, Canadians are taking to the streets in massive numbers too.

Nearly 1,600 Vancouverites marched outside of the Consulate General for the Peoples Republic of China this last weekend, outraged over the bill that will dramatically infringe the civil liberties of everyone in Hong Kong - including visiting North Americans.

All one needs to have done is upset a Chinese apparatchik, and Communist police could board your plane, arrest you, and put you on a non-stop flight to a gulag in mainland China.

The bill has been put on hold at the time of publishing this article, however political leadership has vowed to look at it again in the near future.

When the British Army was stationed in HK, all they did was riot control and rounding up illegal refugees, who were then taken back to the Border, handed over to the Chinese Army who were standing them up against a brick wall and shooting them with machine guns. Women and kids included.

“Hong Kong for many years now it has been experiencing an erosion of democratic freedoms and civil liberties. It began very slowly, but over time it has increased and China has become more and more blatant in its efforts to curb civil liberties in Hong Kong.”

What is sounding familiar about that statement? I hope these Chinese and all of us, don’t find ourselves in a similar situation here in Canada in the near future, with Justin’s self proclaimed love of dictatorships, his apparent appetite for power and propensity for spite.

Trudeau admires anyone who oppresses the people.
