Candice Bergen, the Member of Parliament and Conservative House Leader, was denied a visa to travel to China with other parliamentarians.
I’m not that surprised:
She says she wanted to talk about human rights in China.
The others went without her, except for one fellow Conservative MP, who stayed back in solidarity.
Bergen wrote to the other MPs and Senators on the trip about her situation, and they all stayed silent and ignored her.
Imagine China being able to choose who comes on a Canadian delegation. But are you really surprised?
John McCallum, Trudeau’s ambassador, says he’ll sign any trade deal the Chinese put in front of him.
So we’re selling out our democracy; we’re undermining our elected MPs; we’re humiliating ourselves.
But hey — what a pay-off, right?
