Christians blame political correctness for being ignored while niqab dominates conversation

Brian LilleyArchive

There's been lots of talk about religious freedom, but it's all about one issue: the niqab and whether Muslim women can wear one during citizenship ceremonies.

Meanwhile, the threats to the religious freedoms of Christians are being ignored:

From Trinity Western getting its law school accredited
to pastors being told they can't rent spaces to hold worship services.

One Christian (a former Muslim) says if they were Muslim their issues wouldn't be getting ignored. He blames political correctness for this double standard.

You are absolutely correct! But don’t let that, how can I say, give you a “Big Headed” or having a superiority complex. This is what happens when people think they are better then anyone else. Yes Christianity helped build and grow this country. But over the last several decades other people have come here from all over the world. They have contributed to help grow and shape this great country. Religion and culture are a means to an end of a civilization when one thinks they are better then all others and that is what this country is becoming. Just like a child growing into a teenager, we will experience growing pains. But this can easily be solved if everyone sees only the human race and not other things that cause division and separate us.
I bow to no King, Queen, Presidents or Prime Minister’s because I see them no better then anyone else. I may respect their title but that doesn’t mean they are better then anyone else. We are all equal because we are all human. This understanding and respect for others will help in growing a country and making it stronger.

People do not realize to what extent Christianity has shaped western society and made our civilization far superior to any other. It is the one that all the other peoples in the world want to go to. Our prosperity is also
a result of the Christian influence in our society.

You’re right Brian. Christianity is under attack in our own Country and we need to fight back. Unfortunately I don’t think most citizens are paying attention or care. Interesting times are coming.

Well said, PC has gone too bloody far. But like the trees that were stopped by the ice storm, the people are starting to fight back. Keep up the good work, Rebel.

Not surprising considering what is taught in universities these days. The “Web of Oppression” underlies the contemporary thrust of social policies among ‘progressives’:
The closer you are and the more of the attributes you have at the center, the more you are seen as an ‘oppressor’.

Christianity is the new white.

The issue of the “niqab” is very much like the proverbial salesman’s foot in the door. Don’t doubt for a minute that this woman at the centre of the issue will not be pushing to advance her agenda, which ultimately is the recognition of Sharia here in Canada. Europe failed to see the dangers of allowing the cultural norms of Islam to gain a foothold, and the results could be catastrophic for Western Culture. I say no to the advance of Islam in Canada. They have an entire world of their own and let them live where their own ancient ideas prevail.

The reason the main stream Christian Churches are ignored is is because the leaders of these Chirches are feckless cowards. They won’t stand up and even speak out loudly about the fate of our Christian brothers and sisters in the Middle East. They won’t confront the Progressive Media who dismiss Chriistians and do every thing they can to humiliate us.

They won’t even confront Justine Trudeau over his edict that only Pro Choice advocates can run as Liberal Candidates (sitting members not included) in the next election. In other words practicing Catholics need not apply.

The active campaign against Christianity is puzzling. Who is behind this drive that sees our politicians at all levels think it is acceptable to ban Christians—remember Prime Minister Chretien telling a Christian minister not to mention Christ in a Remembrance Day ceremony? No other religious group faces restrictions. So British Columbia is threatening the very existence of Trinity Western! Really, what can we think of this country and the direction that is becoming so obvious? (Michael Coren’s Easter story is a wonderful tale for this season.)

I just counted three niqab stories on therebel’s front page, no wonder the niqab is dominating the conversation!

I’m all for freedom of religion as long as it stays out of government and remains in houses of worship where it belongs. The last thing we need is public policy being determined by a bunch of books written by stone age desert men.

The niqab dominates the conversation because sites like this keep promoting it.

Brian/Ezra/Marissa, did you know that the B.C. government has withdrawn its permission for TWU to even have a law school? This makes Nanaimo city council’s anti-Christian debacle look like a love-in for Christians. Can you look into this outrage and report on it?

Former Sun News host, Michael Coren has a relatively new book out called “Hatred: Islam’s War on Christianity”. I haven’t read it yet, but I think I’ll get myself a copy. But it’s so true, in this climate of political-correctness the one remaining socially acceptable prejudice seems to be the hatred and ridicule of Christianity, the one religion based on the doctrine of “love your enemy” and “do good to those who persecute you”. And the one religion that not only gets a free pass but trumps every other item on the politically-correct agenda is the religion of Islam. The one religion whose orthodox followers have carried out over 25,000 terrorist, murderous attacks in the name of their religion since 2000. It’s ironic, it’s counterintuitive, it’s illogical, it doesn’t make sense, but there it is. So many people, perhaps the majority of people (I hope not, but it looks that way) are nuts!!! That’s the only explanation. Logic, reason and common sense are no longer the modus operandi of western civilization, if they ever were.

Thanks again Brian. So many interests in so many special rights. My family lived and died since1900 to build this country with no special rights . 3% of the population can control the majority of the country because they speak loud. The other 97 need to walk softly

Words are not enough to express how much I respect Reverend Majed El-Shafie (One Free World Int’l). He has seen it all, what religious oppression is and can do, lived it through torture and is still forgiving enough to help his fellow man. I pray every day for this man, Ezra, Brian and all those who fight for justice.

Many of us simply talk the talk; Rev. El-Shafie walks the talk and he has walked through fire. Learn from this man.

There hasn’t been “freedom of religion” for at least 3 decades now. Oh, they claim lip service, but the reality is, “You can be of any religion you choose… as long as it’s not Christianity!”

Christians are the new taboo group in politics and media. And is it any wonder with who politicians and the news media is kissing up to all the time? Gay rights this, gay pride day that, offended muslims this, allahu Akbar that, and so on and so on. This is pathetic and sickening to the majority of Canadians who are from neither of those two minority groups. Usually it’s the people with power and/or lots of money who runs things. So, there must be some filthy rich powerful gay muslims, gays, muslims behind this bs. Lets find out who they are, bring them down to their kness and put a stop to all of this. The majority of Canadians do not want or need their hard earned taxes supporting the absolute prejudice and bigotry from those two minority groups that are constantly slandering and shitting all over everybody else’s rights.

Thank God for the rebel TV because it dares to present issues that the MSM doesn’t like or won’t cover. Canadians need to know all the issues not just the ones presented by the Laurention Triangle media
