It’s time to call out Toronto Mayor John Tory on allowing the hijacking of the Gay Pride Parade by Black Lives Matter thugs.
A few years ago, as a radio broadcaster and aspiring mayoral candidate, Tory was a straight-shooter who attacked the Pride Parade committee for allowing the anti-Semitic Queers Against Israeli Apartheid to march in the parade.
In 2014, Tory forcefully denounced the group saying if QAIA is allowed to participate in future Pride Parades, the city should cut off its taxpayer funding.
Tory’s principled stand was the correct one, but as the saying goes, that was then and this is now.
QAIA has since disbanded, but a new group of lunatics has hijacked the parade; Black Lives Matter. Last year they disrupted it with a sit-in but weren’t charged. Instead, they're calling the shots on the Pride Parade guest list.
BLM demanded police shouldn’t be part of the parade, and more or less got their way. Officers and other municipal law enforcement personnel can come, but not in uniform, i.e., they're allowed but have to stay in the closet.
So what happened to John Tory’s principled stand against odious groups that would hijack the Gay Pride Parade for their own agendas?
Was that just to make himself look good before he got the job of mayor?
After all, who wants to rock the boat when you’re comfortably ensconced in the captain’s seat?
