Claim: 48 “no confidence” letters now in — Will May be removed as UK PM?

An unnamed source has told Paul Waugh of the Huffington Post that the 48 letters required to trigger a vote of no confidence in Theresa May have now been sent.

Waugh wrote on Twitter:

“Today’s #WaughZone is in your inbox folks. One source ells me the 48 letters threshold, needed for a vote of confidence in Theresa May, has been passed. Only Sir Graham Brady knows for sure”.

Honestly, I believed it was technically possible, but that no Tory MP would want to be responsible for handing in those final four letters that would essentially get Mrs May removed from her role. But it might just have happened.

An anonymous Tory MP told The Sun that he and two of his colleagues would be sending in letters yesterday – and as we know, at the beginning of this week, we were waiting on four final letters. I wonder who handed in that final one? That must have felt good. Or terrifying.

This could mean that Theresa May is ousted by the end of the week. That’s how crazy things have gotten…
