CONFIRMED: Millions wasted on “mosque built for no one” and other “refugee” renos at Canadian Forces bases

Brian LilleyArchive

If you’re a regular viewer, you’ll know how difficult it’s been for us to get detailed dollar figures for Trudeau’s “refugee rush” but fortunately, the government was forced to respond to an order paper question in Parliament and I now have at least some information I’m going to share with you.

I’m going to provide details so you can share with other Canadians who won’t be happy about spending this kind of money for what amounts to a vanity project for Trudeau.

In total 380 soldiers were moved from their barracks to make way for the refugees, 370 were moved at CFB Kingston and 10 at CFB Valcartier outside of Quebec City.

Even though Liberals reduced the initial plan from six bases to just two, all of them underwent renovations for winterizing accommodations, improving shower and washroom facilities and in some spots kitchen facilities and yes, even erecting that “worship centre” as they called it at CFB Meaford.

At CFB Kingston they spent $400,000 on a new ventilation system for the junior ranks kitchen, presumably where they would have fed the people if they had come.

At CFB Valcartier they spent $2.8M and winterized 10 buildings, along with the construction of 31 small units plus some electrical work.

At CFB Borden they also spent more than $2M, and here we get a detailed list:

• 236 Weatherhaven shelter concrete floors have been insulated with subfloor (chipboard} and overlaid with rubber matting;
• Hard stand washroom facilities required a heat upgrade to the laundry areas;
• Construction fencing was rented and/or purchased and installed for safety concerns (to cordon off the boilers, propane tanks and mechanical equipment);
• Heat exchangers inside the Weatherhaven shelters were upgraded with a safety guard device to prevent incident and injury;
• Security cameras were purchased and installed in key locations looking outward to enhance base security at the request of the Military. Police;
• Snow, ice and garbage service contracts were amended to absorb additional usage;
• Re-skinning of Weatherhaven shelters that were deficient was accomplished;
• Water closet and shower stalls were modified for Barrier access free in select hardstand ablutions; and . .
• A trailer was rented and positioned at the main gate to serve as the screening and entry control point into the interim Lodging Sites

That’s a lot of work done but at least it will benefit our soldiers going forward.

At CFRB Trenton there was $275,000 spent on a lot of small upgrades.

Here’s some info on CFB Meaford’s Mosque:

“The installation of a 120' X 60' shelter for a social, recreational, cultural and worship site.”

Looking at the long list of upgrades I’m of two minds thinking I’m glad for the military that they got upgrades they’ve wanted even if the house guests didn’t come. But on the other hand I think it’s just another example of Trudeau and company wasting money to make themselves look good.

Despite being told we needed to rush all these people over here quickly because they were living in horrible conditions in refugee camps, we found out most of them were not living in camps and were in houses and apartments in places like Beirut.

There was no need to rush but rush we did. Spending millions to get army bases ready, kicking soldiers out, building a mosque for people that didn’t need the bases. They didn’t need the bases because McCallum and company put them in hotels at huge cost to taxpayers.

We still don’t know hotel costs but we do know the government’s own contracts state they are paying the hotels $61/day to feed each and every refugee.

It’s a waste, the people we brought over were safe. Waiting a few more months until we could house them properly could have saved us this cost and saved the military $6M.

Instead we rushed for the Trudeau vanity project.

And still we have cities asking for a slow down in settling refugees, McCallum admitting that 30% of the refugees we brought over still don’t have a place to live, meaning they are in those hotels.

I’ve said from the beginning the refugee rush was going to be handled poorly. These new documents showing millions spent by the army for a project that didn’t happen is just the latest proof.

it isnt the “upgrades” or the cost of the “upgrades”…its the actual cost of the work that is without a fiddle in the range of a stradivarius…

“Build it and they will come” is the old Liberal saying (well according to Wynne) or was that “Suck it up we are going to build it anyway”?

If they were to bring over a bunch of Coptic Christian refugees, would they build a Church for them at the Tax Payer’s expense? Oh, I forgot. They don’t give a damn about Christians being beheaded.
