The Alberta NDP is now looking at cracking down on political action committees even though they said they weren’t as recently as three weeks ago.
Although the NDP capped corporate and union donations directly to the political parties, they did not cap third party spending on elections.
Alberta legislation also does not prevent labour unions from loaning workers to political parties during campaigns. Convenient stuff for the union supported NDP.
And for good reason.
What PACs really are is the right wing answer to the money big unions are able to spend as third parties advertising in Alberta’s elections.
And that’s why the NDP wants to crack down on them.
Labour Minister Christina Gray wants to draft new legislation to deal with PACs and told the Globe and Mail that the NDP is not affiliated with any outside operation. I fact checked that.
Check out my video to see what I found in the NDP’s constitution about their affiliations.
PACS are raising and spending a ton of money in support of defeating to the NDP so the NDP is going to use the power of government legislation to take the one thing that levels the playing field against unions spending their mandatory dues on left wing politics. It's conniving.
The NDP are against big money in politics, that's for sure.
But just the voluntary right wing kind.
