The executive director of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health-funded Empowerment Council is advising police to show “sensitivity” if they come across a weapon-wielding maniac — confirming that the inmates are indeed running the asylum.
Instead of the copper yelling, “Drop your weapon!” the officer should gently ask the offender, “Can I help you?” as if the cop is an employee at Sears or something.
If that doesn’t work, she suggests the follow-up query of: “Is there something we can do?” And if that fails, then the cop should gently say, “Let’s talk.”
Yeah, you wouldn’t want to yell and trigger somebody into having a bad day, especially if he’s got his finger on the trigger of a Glock.
Watch as I tell you more about how this out of touch female Executive Director who I’m betting has never taken a ride-along with cops in the wee hours on the wrong side of the tracks, is advising our cops.
