We figured the Liberals owed union bosses BIG after campaigning so hard for Trudeau’s Liberals and now this week, we found out that one union made an illegal secret donation.
Don’t worry. Neither the union nor the Liberals will be charged now or in the future. That would only happen if a Conservative was involved in any way.
But, here’s what I didn’t know until yesterday. The minister in charge of the labour file who would “return the favour” by repealing key pieces of legislation passed by the last Parliament, doesn’t have a clue what she’s talking about.
The legislation MaryAnn Mihychuk tabled this week seeking to repeal Bill C-525, takes away something that gave workers in federally regulated industries the right to a secret ballot when seeking to join, start or leave a union.
Are you surprised that we don’t already have this? Do we vote on anything else without a secret ballot? We haven't run an election without a secret ballot since the 1870s.
I asked her if she’d give up the secret ballot for her next election. She avoided answering my question and misrepresented what Bill C-525 was about.
Maybe she doesn’t know? She wouldn’t have to read far into the bill to find out since it’s in the summary. So I pushed her again and she proved she didn't have a clue.
Union bosses don't like secret ballots because it stops them from being able to intimidate people. Intimidation by organizers has been documented and I've spoken to past organizers who are still afraid to go on the record for fear of what will happen to them.
When workers are given a secret ballot so neither the union nor the company is able to threaten or intimidate them, they’re more likely to choose NOT to join a union.
The only way the playing field is unfair is if it’s easier for workers to be intimidated, which is why union bosses want the bill repealed and Liberals are doing it to repay the guys that spent millions helping them get elected.
The Liberals need to answer why they won’t allow people to vote in private.
This is not about being fair or levelling the playing field for workers. This is about using 19th century voting practices to reward and enrich the union bosses that helped them get elected and it’s corrupt.
Despite his shiny new face, Justin Trudeau's Liberals are the same old party they’ve always been.

This country is so phucked.
Dear Diary;
It looks like Canada is going to hell in a handbasket. Oil’s not making me any money, it looks like the economy is tanking, at least since November, people seem pissed off with just about everything from Iran to pipelines, someone even said that the stone was dropping like a Loonie. It’s too bad that I wasn’t elected sooner as Dear Leader in order to bring my Sunny Ways to the country’s problems.
So rather than wait until next week for the U.S. Senate hearings to question my ambassador on why we might be bringing so many perpetrators of workplace violence to their doorstep, like the man of action that I am, I sprung into action and called B.O., peace be upon him, so that he could tell me what to do.
He told me that it’s really easy, like Lloyd Nolan pointed out, just come up with some minor stuff as diversions, things that I don’t actually give a shit about, but which will touch a few nerves with the zombies and keep their tongues wagging while they loiter around in Timmies. Brilliant. I’ll get Mauril to bring up that old chestnut about making the national anthem gender neutral, that always gets the patriotic half of the country all worked up. Gerald’s suggested that we could leak something about some guy in Toronto getting kicked out of his hotel room to make room for Syrian voters, that’ll get the bleeding hearts into a hissy-fit. Now I just need something to raise the hackles of the right-wingers, oh wait, I’ve already done that. When I issued a statement a couple of days ago to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day, I did it without mentioning Jews. In fact I even threw in something about hate, prejudice and discrimination spreading unchallenged. Only the cons will notice that as being my dog-whistle support for my Muslim brothers.
You have to wonder why Canadians haven’t figured out these fraudulent trash people … yet.
Throughout the decades, whatever the liberals touch turns into financial disaster for the average Canadian.
If it had been a Harper minister, it would be airing non-stop and there’d be a Rick Mercer rant about it…
