The results of a recently completed Canada Revenue Agency audit of the Islamic Society of BC should alarm every Canadian and British Columbian.
This organization holds charitable status and operates a mosque in the province called the Masjid Al-Hidayah and Islamic Cultural Centre in Port Coquitlam.
Previously, I reported that former Imam Saaladin Lahron was sentenced to three and a half years in prison after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young woman at the mosque in 2013.
The CRA audit found he spent tens of thousands of dollars of the mosque’s money on things like jewellery, video games, and a spa.
They were fined for this but in addition to the unethical use of funds and the sexual assault perpetrated in the Mosque was the finding that it was “controlled or influenced” by a Qatari based organization called the Eid Foundation, accused in the past of supporting terrorism.
Yet, the CRA has not issued any penalty for this to the Islamic Society of BC. Nothing.
Watch as I explain how this all fits into the current state of international affairs and geopolitics.
After all we've done to secure our society from the threat of Islamic terrorism since 9/11, it’s difficult to understand why the CRA hasn’t done anything about the Islamic Society of BC – even when there are allegations of Qatari terror-ties!
So far, their status has not been revoked, and we’re not aware of an RCMP investigation.
The CRA talks about educating those in non-compliance which is fine under normal circumstances but where connections to terrorism are involved, action needs to be swift.
Islamic extremism is already here in Canada. We’ve seen honour killings, we’ve seen defence of female genital mutilation, and when we examine many Islamic Societies more closely, too often we find affiliated Mosques actings as fronts for the Muslim Brotherhood.
The Conservative Party raised this issue in Ottawa today, and that’s a good start.
But we need to see action from the CRA if we really want to end the influence of questionable foreign groups funding Canadian Mosques.
