CRAP! Calgary's Nenshi wastes $236,000 on sewage treatment "art"

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

You’ve heard the phrase, "That’s just flushing money down the toilet."

It’s a metaphor for wasting money, but nobody actually thinks you’re throwing real money down the sewer — it’s just a saying, right?

Well, Calgary’s big-spending mayor Naheed Nenshi has achieved another milestone in his illustrious career:

He just spent $236,000 dollars of taxpayers money on public “art” at a sewage treatment plant.

In the middle of a recession, with 40,000 people in the oil patch losing their jobs so far this year, he spent a quarter of a million dollars lighting up a sewage pump.

These are recession and unemployment times in Alberta.

But Nenshi want's to prove he’s a world class mayor with world class urban art — paid for by taxpayers.

Alberta’s NDP is using a fake "public survey" to push climate change policy.

Last Feb. Nenshi pitched a hissy fit over the prospect of slashing PUBLIC spending on ‘art’ as a cost cutting measure FOR ONE YEAR during a recession. Thanks Naheed…like all Liberals you’re addicted to tax’n’spend…

From the Calgary Herald: Mayor Naheed Nenshi has urged artists and business leaders to lobby councillors to kill a proposal that would slash the few million dollars of council’s infrastructure budget set aside for public art.

He gave a passionately pro-art message Thursday at the mayor’s annual arts award luncheon, telling the crowd he agreed with their boos when he mentioned Coun. Peter Demong’s motion, which council will debate Monday.

Demong is citing the oil price crash as reason to freeze all public art spending until at least 2016, and reallocate all unused art funds from older projects.

Just wait for a moment people, the socialists will be waking up soon and they will be on here to twist this story around and blame Ezra.

Bravo Zulu – and we have a lazy electorate in Calgary. I can’t believe how many people sit on the sidelines and refuse to vote. But I find that they are the biggest complainers, when those like Nenshi, continually waste our money on trashy art, and useless bike lanes, pushing their socialist agenda.

Well, maybe it’s a way to support the starving artist and then tax them on their income.

Nenshi is just part of the bigger picture clusterfuck. Government is accountable to no one and it is socialist gebbamunts that are the worst offenders.

You elect a socialist gobbermint and you get higher taxes and out of control spending – financial suicide – and a lower standard of living.

The best example is Europe – a socialist shit hole and on the verge of financial collapse.

In February Nenshi took part in the Big City Mayor’s meeting in Toronto, a summit attended by 19 mayors from across Canada, and called upon the federal government to look at the current troubles as the perfect time to invest in city infrastructure (which as often pointed out by Brian is outside the federal government’s mandate).
With respect to the most urgent problem facing Calgary, handling the city’s growth, Nenshi said,
“How do we manage the people who are coming there, who want to live there, how do we make sure we can reduce congestion and can get people to work and school and where they need to go on time, how can we make sure they’ve got a place to live, a safe and decent place to live, and — the thing that is so sexy — what do we do with their poop.”
With respect to the latter, it looks like Nenshi figured it out without the federal governments’ help!

IMO – The only reason he is still mayor is because of the huge islamic population in the city.
