Judge, prosecutor shortages helping criminals get “off the hook”

Holly NicholasRebel Commentator

Imagine a murderer, rapist, or child predator getting off scot free because their case didn’t get to trial quickly enough. That’s happening in Canada and in Alberta, where the court system is a mess.

We’ve heard reports of judge and prosecutor shortages causing delays in getting cases to trial for years, but the Liberal government hasn’t done a thing to get new judges appointed to fill vacant positions.

Alberta Justice confirmed that of the sixteen appointments made over the last two years to the Court of Queen’s Bench, fifteen simply filled vacancies due to retirement or to replace judges who had been elevated to other positions.

There are still fourteen vacancies on the Court of Queen’s Bench and two on the Court of Appeal.

The Notley NDP promised $14.5 million to the justice system and hired 50 Crown prosecutors, and 30 new court staff, but the Jordan decision passed by the Supreme Court last year is just aggravating the situation.

Watch as I explain why this ruling is letting some lawyers get serious cases dropped simply because the court ran out of time.

To give credit where due, the NDP are at least attempting to do something about the problem, but the Feds are doing almost nothing.

They’re delaying justice for victims of crime by ignoring their duties in filling important roles.

While they preach about social justice issues like gender parity and wage gaps, they’re failing true victims who are denied real justice.

I wish you could provide numbers on how many murderers or rapists have been released without trial. It seems that the homicide rate has been relatively stable (or decreasing) over the past 10 years. Compared to other problems, not a major issue for most Canadians. 90% of homicide victims know the killer, so I’d be afraid of anyone getting a gun for protection. They’re more likely to kill someone they know than save someone.

SPACE MOOSE commented: “Maybe the void will be filled by sharia courts.”

Could very well be true. Lieberals don’t care about crime (only affects the little people/peasants y’know) and justice. Only shutting down free speech when M 103 is weaponized into a law!

Pretty soon, this country will turn into anarchy. With the mass migration of anybody and everybody, jihadists, radicals, mexican cartels, and on and on, the justice and police will be inexistent. Taking steps to protect myself and family.

This is insane.

Good on the NDP for doing something positive.
Our system has not been about Justice for a long time. Social Justice is such a convoluted mess with so many spoiled and vain people with their own deluded view of reality appointing themselves as Judge , Jury , and Executioner.

Excellent report Holly.
Iain Foulds, I couldn’t agree more!

… There is justice, and their is “social” justice.
… “Social” justice is simply the Left’s different laws for different people based upon an assortment of irrelevant tribal divisions.
… “Social” justice is always giving some people advantage at the expense of others.
