On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, I reported on Canada's media regulator, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), proposing a raised quota of Canadian content be imposed on media outlets.
So that’s the big fear of Canadian broadcasters:
That if they don’t get big protection from the government, we Canadians might watch American content.
Oh, by the way, here are the top shows on Canadian TV. Number one — Young Sheldon. That’s an American show about a kid from Texas. Number two — New Amsterdam. That’s an American show about a hospital in New York.
Next is Big Bang Theory, American. Next is Blue Bloods, an American cop show. I won’t go through it all. All the way down, it’s all American shows, except a couple of newscasts. The only Canadian show is Murdoch Mysteries, and Hockey Night in Canada. Every other show is American.
So, yeah, these are the folks who want to block us from watching American content? They’re the ones force-feeding us American content.
At least they have the excuse that they’re trying to make a buck.
The worst offender is the CBC, obviously, which is utterly obsessed with America, in particular, with Donald Trump. It’s so weird, it’s so creepy. They’re obsessed. So, yeah, these are the folks who are going to save us from watching American content?
They don’t care about Canada, or being Canadian or Canadian culture. They care about cutting out competitors who are just better at TV and music than they are.
