Will tea lovers revolt? Dad urges Tim Hortons to turn down the heat

David MenziesMission Specialist

Why can’t people take responsibility for their own actions or inactions? And why can’t some people accept that no matter how much we try to bubble-wrap this planet, sometimes, bad things are going to happen?

The latest case of “Please change the world to accommodate me” comes from Calgary father Adam Dreece, upset that Tim Hortons serves hot tea that’s actually hot.

Dreece wasn’t paying attention at a Timmy’s and some tea spilled on his toddler, Nathan, causing burns. My heart goes out to the boy but my sympathy evaporated when Daddy got on the social media warpath urging Tim’s to lower the heat on hot beverages.

Tim Hortons says they’re aware of the incident and are reviewing the matter but I hope they don’t acquiesce. To brew a proper cup of tea, water must reach a rolling boil otherwise it won’t taste good.

Dreece isn’t the only one who has caused companies to do whatever they can to protect themselves from  over-protective parents who make our lives miserable.

Some people claim that there is alien life in the universe.
They have not contacted us earthlings and I can only surmise as to why not.
Could it be because they are actually monitoring humanity and seeing the following:
- wars, famines, ecological disasters and poverty
- parents killing their children under the guise of honour killings
- the wanton waste of natural and other resources
- people slaughtering other people in the name of some invisible entity
- children being abused and killed
- the proliferation of nuclear and biological super weapons
- political leaders having no ethical compasses such as Trudeau, Notley and Wynne
- shabby treatment of the most vulnerable in our societies
- cruelty to animals just for the fun of it
- the wilful destruction of our planet

Just seeing this, they see that humanity is not as advanced as we think is

Way to go Wynne. The poor won’t be able to drive anymore.

Just another nutcase, thank God there’s only a few of them, I see a lawyer jumping to run on this case.

Father should be charged with child endangerment.
commented 2016-08-07 20:59:01 -0400
If this were the States, he could sue and they would settle, and then he’d be up for a Stella Award (named after a woman who spilled hot coffee on herself in McDonald’s, sued, and won), which is handed out to the winners of the most frivolous lawsuits.

And I really hope by “reviewing the matter” that Tim’s means “laughing uproariously and making rude noises.”

Sorry, I meant Adam Dreece, not free entry!

What was a hot cup of tea doing close to an infant? Child endangerment!

Free entry, another liberally educated know it all?
What a knob!
Dump Justin bin Trudeau

Fraser, if you are employed by the rebel, please take a hint, stop posting on every article, and if not, please fo or comment on the article! You think you are providing a service but in reality you are just extremely annoying!

“Side of ice cubes, sir”.

You should have rephrased the title of this piece to “Teal Lovers ARE revolting”,Dave – more accurate description of jerks who like dunking their bags in hot water in public.

Shannon, obviously you have never owned a business as the Rebel is in startup, about a year old, so they don’t have the advertising base to give you takers a free ride. Are you getting something for the $8, had you been paying for it? The answer is a resounding yes, but you are a taker, entitled type! Pay or stop complaining or just go away! You are pathetic!
commented 2016-08-07 19:29:12 -0400
Hey Rebel, this doesn’t cost $8 bucks a month, it’s free. How come they can do it and you can’t?…………

Breitbart News smashed company traffic records in July, generating 192 million page views, 31 million unique visitors, and 89 million sessions. Last month’s metrics pushed the conservative news giant to over one billion page views so far in 2016–a 28% jump in 30 days from last month’s previous record high.

Second thought, considering this story where Timmy’s is taking a negligent father’s complaint seriously, along with the time they took some kind of ENGO complaint seriously and pulled advertisement related to the oil sands, they need to to change their name. Tim Horton, the toughest defenseman the league ever knew (maybe until Robinson, La Pointe, Savard, but they were a team of three), would be embarrassed at a bunch of wimps still using his name for an organization that was originally formed for a noble cause.

Time they changed the name to super wimp, Baby Doc aka no pecs Trudeau. Side note, why would any man show pride in minimal during selfies?

Just pass a law banning stupid people from buying hot things.

I guess its a lite day at the Rebel. Good for you.
I helped a buddy run his coffee shop. The problem wasn’t hot tea, the problem was getting enough hot water. We had to buy a larger industrial level hot water maker for the tea, and yes, it gets a bit hot, but people really like hot tea. it makes a better cup of tea. I am a earl gray drinker myself.

Obviously it will never be hotter than 221deg. but likely around 180 deg. But if you google it, lots of teas brew best at higher temps. When you ask for a tea, you are actually ordering a hot beverage. Not a warm beverage. The complaint usually is, you put the milk in first and cooled the water down so my Tea will not taste the same.

So I would gather this guy had no milk in his tea, and was a bit of a crazy nut spilling hot liquids on his baby. People should take precautions when driving a car, or having a baby. And the baby should be in the back seat. You would have to intentionally try to do two things at once to bring Tea in contact with a baby. Totally his fault.

Or a father who is looking for some easy “litigation” cash. Ah, yes……that’s it!
commented 2016-08-07 16:29:16 -0400
Watch you kid, daddy, when you are drinking tea at home. Or else he may grow up and sue you for parental child abuse.
commented 2016-08-07 16:28:10 -0400
You mean Tim Horton’s actually said they will “look into the issue”?
I have no great love for Tim Horton’s, but why didn’t they just tell the fool to take a royal flying fuck at an endlessly rolling donut?
Sorry about the toddler kid, not so much for the tea burn as much as he has an idiot father such as his dad.

Another case of a neglectful parent.
commented 2016-08-07 15:11:23 -0400
Newsflash. Tea requires boiling hot water to taste like tea and unleash the benefits too. So now we should expect to drink dishwater at Timmy’s because little Jimmy’s dad is an imbecile and can’t parent his child on how to drink tea. Here’s an idea, add some milk, or let it cool down, add some cold water. Another one added to the list of liberal ideology to benefit all of mankind- I don’t like it so ban it for all.

Mr. Dreece is clearly an incompetent, negligent parent; and Nathan should consequently be apprehended by Child Welfare for his safety.

Donald Allan: I agree with your comments. We have lost sight of what is a reasonable accommodation for minority groups (and the line is hazy). Many of us might agree that it is reasonable to build wheelchair ramps into public buildings even though it’s expensive and benefits only a few.

Other accommodations are less obvious.

For me, the line is very clear: we should not accommodate minorities if it would impinge upon public safety, as is the case with burquas or men in girls’ changerooms.

I stopped going to Tim Hortons when Tim Hortons came out against oil and gas pipelines
commented 2016-08-07 11:03:16 -0400
Perhaps as a society we are becoming numb to what’s called the tyranny of the minority or in many cases the tyranny of the individual. Making mountains out of molehills has become a perfected practice of the left. And we all must bend to their will , irrespective of the consequences. One person takes offense at a comedians joke , the joker is fined and humour for all is vanquished. We all must drink cold tea , not eat or drink anything that causes another an allergic reaction. One person decides they want to express their gender and bull their way into a washroom, we all must behave opposite to what our genitalia tells us.Don’t we have a right to our privacy as we see it?
All of us are different in some way. But that doesn’t give each of us the right to decide the bahaviour of the masses, slaved to our caprice at any particular moment. Live and let live , but don’t force your values, your wants and needs and your opinions on me and others.
