D-Day at 75: Torontonians quizzed on WW2 history

David MenziesMission Specialist

Lest we forget? June 6th is the 75th anniversary of one of the most important turning points of the 20th century: D-Day.

But are Canadians even aware of this day? And can they explain the historical significance of this event?

We went to the streets of downtown Toronto to find out - and the responses we received ranged from the delightful to the dreadful.

…anyway we are currently in a world war now. Its just a new kind of war fought in ways we never expected, and apparently are not prepared for, but make no mistake the west is under attack as we speak.

“I’m originally from Ottawa”.
Priceless.

Not with the current politicians in power. The more I know the less I would let one of my loved ones go (I’d shoot em in the foot first).
When the west gets involved these days they end up being hated by the people they are helping as well as their attackers. Let other countries deal with their own problems. If Muslims want to kill each other, let them. Instead we often end up giving the wrong side, arms, or end up taking in the collateral damage of the people we helped fight off. It never made sense to me to bring in people who hate us ewven before they get here.

On our own soil yeah. We need to protect our turf. It is well past time for that. Soonish would be good. The more time that passes the messier the war will be. Its coming its just a matter of how ugly its going to be.

I don’t know why I get so angry and resentful at the mass of these sub-humans walking around in a daze, in their insulated little worlds of narcissism and ignorance…and indoctrination!
I’m a semi-literate high school dropout from a broken home who works with horses in the bush…if I can figure it out, anybody should be able to…
…so what’s your excuse?

Alberta Maga, Canadas war is here, now. Our enemy is Trudeau and his Jihadi Idol worshipers.

The kind of sacrifice required by the ruthless struggle of the magnitude of WWII would probably be beyond the soft, gender neutral and diverse population of the modern age…

It is quite obvious why history repeats itself.

Actually, according to American Veterans, D-day means Day 1.

Assimilation is working at a high % in Toronto. Even that guy that traveled all the way from Ottawa got one correct answer.

What a pathetic display and a complete lack of respect for those who lost their lives fighting against socialism and tyranny, the very same things that our moronic PM seems to endorse!! Education in this country has severely failed in every which way!!

No wonder The Groper is laying waste to our nation. People have no clue about our history ( the marxists like it that way) and so they have no knowledge of what we fought against and so we have no problem welcoming that very evil.

With no history we have no identity, With no identity we are malleable lumps of proletariat matter ready for shaping into the Leftist image. Hence the renaming of streets and buildings as well as the removal of statues and parliamentary records.

So much for religion being the opiate of the masses. Turns out it is bread and circuses. Who’d a thunk it? That is why The Groper campaigned on pot legalization.

What a lot of people are unaware of is the fact that the Canadian Soldiers who went on to the beaches were all facing their first time in action, they were raw. Didn’t stop them though, they earned their glory and like the Brits and the Yanks, many did not come home.

They probably don’t teach this history in school anymore in case they might offend someone…like Hitler.

I couldn’t survive in that society. More than a couple people would wrap their legs around Trudeau. No one even realizes how politics affect your lives. $1.70 /l in Vancouver,$.97 in Edmonton. Thanks Kenney

Why the hell was Trudeau allowed to go and represent our fallen Military Soldiers and Relatives?

I hope a couple of real Leaders whispered in his ear… Why the fack are you here assh@le!

“Drop kick me,Jesus, through the goal posts of life…..” because I do not know how much more of this collective stupidity and ignorance I can take……

How sad that people are forgetting why they are free and who freed them. Thanks to our Marxist-polluted school system, freedom is being supplanted by Lennonist peace. It’s impossible to “Give Peace a Chance” because there are always war-like goons who want power.

Lest we…Lest we….Lest we….ummm…what was that thing those folks at Veteran’s Affairs Commemorations didn’t want us to do?
