Dear Liberals: Here's why you don't want Bill Blair on your side

Brian LilleyArchive

No one is surprised that Toronto's former police chief has declared himself to be a Liberal Party candidate.

Even though, as the city's top cop, he was supposed to be enforcing existing drug laws, he openly supported the legalization of marijuana -- and that's Justin Trudeau's number one issue.

Blair also believes "the long gun registry has saved lives."

Except the number of shootings in Toronto dropped after the registry was repealed.

What else should we be concerned about now that Bill Blair is joining Team Trudeau?

PLUS: I explain why even Liberals should be worried about having him on their side.

So, Police State Goon Bill Blair wants to run for the Liberals. I wonder, does he know where the missing AdScam Million$ went? The Liberals have never paid that back to the taxpayer.

most people have seen through the farcical politically motivated personal agenda that was the ford investigation..blair…this is why he was fired….of course his supporters wont admit that he was fired…but he still wanted the job…and was told no thanks.

Good job, Brian! Keep exposing the so-called “wynners/winners” of “Justless” Trudeau’s red team!

How much tax dollars did Blair waist to bust Rob Fords driver? Was the amount of pot worth it or was it political. Just asking……

If you want to see the demeanor of the old soviet commissar enforcers look at Bill Blair – a consummate martinet without an ounce of extenuating reason – totally reactionary and totally without vision – a partisan bully for hire – the last thing you want governing a free people. Besides, if G20 was any indicator he likes making up his own laws. Judging from the unwarranted surveillance he put Ford through we can expect Truedough to put him in charge of a partisan harassment program a la Obama-IRS.

Gee, maybe he was given this seat when the Liberals were under investigation. Smells like stinky fish to me

After so many years of wearing the ‘Police’ authoritarian / administrative stone-face, Blair has no charisma let alone the kind of pizazz one might expect in a real politician. Look at Fantino, he couldn’t do it either and as Brian Lilley just pointed out, Blair’s track record is one of controlling people, not advocating on their behalf. Now he’s going to represent the them? What political experience does he have? He hasn’t paid his dues and now he wants to start at the top? How did you like his handling of the G-20 Summit / fiasco that arrested so many law-biding citizens? Toronto constituents are never going to forget that one and now Blair wants their votes? If Trudeau thought that the bleached-blond, tantrum-prone Tory-reject Eve Adams would be an asset then perhaps the same ‘judgment’ might conclude that Blair could somehow help the Reds. As history has shown, one Trudeau was more than enough and the same thing applies to Blair. For citizens to vote for Trudeau’s Liberals is like the chickens voting for Colonel Sanders.

My understanding is this jerk spent about 5 million dollars at least following former Mayor Rob Ford. As we all know, there was never any arrests or charges laid. Blair apparently refuses to tell the taxpayers just exactly how much was spent and how it was spent. He needs a good kick you know where!

After the civil abominations committed in the G20 meeting you’d think this mutt would be incarcerated instead of seeking public office to commit higher civil atrocities- well you know what they say about cream and ba#$%ds .

I agree with Brian Lilley, Bill Blair doesn’t deserve the public’s support. He is just the perfect candidate for the Justie team!

Bill Blair does deserve to be with Justin. The Liberals have their agenda. Down, down is where they want this country to go.

Wanda Orion – you are right on the money on this one. Ditto.

“Trudeau thinks he will need Blair for a liberal version of Hitler’s gestapo.” Very useful in a regime that admires Communist Dictatorships. Just saying…

The comparison to Fantino is apt but I think that Blair has the potential to be an even bigger albatross. Unlike Fantino, who is just big pompous blow hard, Blair has a mean streak and a flair for political “gotcha” games. Apart from the achievements that Brian mentioned (the G20 debacle, Blair’s support for the gun registry and legalization of marijuana), those of us in the GTA will recall the over-the-top squandering of taxpayers’ dollars on his mostly unsuccessful mission against then Mayor Rob Ford. Letting the man drive around while half in the bag while police helicopters and even a small aircraft followed him on his various missions in the hope that, as I’m sure was Blair’s game plan, catching him doing something more egregious, tells us what kinda guy Blair really is. Not to mention his passionate support for the undemocratic and deeply offensive practice of “carding” . Scarborough SW is gradually becoming an NDP stronghold as the chattering types move eastward down th Danforth so I think that Blair’s chances are somewhat dicey. But if he wins, Justin will come to regret green-lighting this star candidate.
