Putting the safety of Canadians at risk, the Liberals continue to do nothing about Canada’s border crisis and even make things worse as they did last year when they lifted the visa requirements for Mexican nationals put in place by the Conservatives in 2009.
Currently, the number of Mexican refugee applications has almost tripled since 2016, sitting at 660 at the end of July.
Additionally, according to correspondence between the Canadian Press and the Canada Border Services Agency, 2,391 Mexicans have been detained this year. That’s six times the amount from the previous year.
Mexico has a drug cartel problem and shady people are trying to get into Canada. Border officials detain people when they suspect a person may pose a danger to the public, might go underground, or if they’re identity is in doubt.
Of course, the Liberals are ignoring these facts.
Remember when former Minister of Immigration John McCallum suggested the Liberals were lifting these visa requirements to promote tourism and jobs when questioned by CPC immigration critic Michelle Rempel?
It seems nothing has changed. When asked, Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale’s spokesperson trotted out the same lines about tourism and trade.
We know that some of these illegals are coming here because they can no longer get into the U.S. and we can expect more judging by the fake outrage over DACA.
The open borders virtue signalling we get from the Liberals isn’t harmless because it’s also an invitation to obvious threats that they continue to ignore.
