Didn’t Trudeau say Canada was back? Canada gets “Fossil Award” at Paris climate talks

Holly NicholasRebel Commentator

This year, just like any other year, Canada received a Fossil Award at the Paris climate talks. But I thought Canada was back? And there was real change happening around here?

Canada sent 383 delegates to the climate talks in Paris using millions of taxpayer dollars, only to receive another fossil award. And fossil awards aren’t a good thing.

They’re handed out to countries that commit to climate action and don’t come through for example, or cause a set back in negotiations.

Canada has been the recipient of these awards for years -- we’ve even won the Lifetime Unachievement Fossil Award. This time, the award was given to us for refusing to support a discussion on compensating poor countries vulnerable to natural events caused by climate change.

And Justin Trudeau said we backed out of the discussion because it will end up costing our kids and grandkids. This coming after he’s spent $4 billion dollars in the first month of governing.

But there’s more to this story: the Climate Action Network is doling out these awards and members include the Pembina Institute.

You may remember that this institute is a left wing think tank that supports progressive projects. For example, they’re on board with an accelerated phase out of coal in Alberta.

Marlo Raynolds, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, was once the Executive Director at the institute. And it looks like some of his friends might have given him an award for a terrible performance at the climate talks in Paris.

Holly Nichols is worried that Canada got a “fossil award”. Under Stephen Harper Canada got many of these awards because of our lack of co-operation with other nations and our failure to live up to promises.
Now, for one year, Trudeau has to live with the consequences of Harper’s inaction.
I think we can live with that.

I gotta admit Trudeau is right , Canada is back to where Paul Martin left off.

John, I agree. Can you imagine if someone from the 1960s came back to our time to hear that fossil fuels are evil? I guess most people don’t like fresh vegetables in the winter and are content to gnaw on turnips and potatoes for 6 to 7 months of the year?

I am very proud of our fossil awards. It means we are not quite a stupid as some other countries … namely in the EU.

The rebel needs to have its own end of the year award.

Give Dicktraitor Trudeau a year and the whole of Canada will be a Fossil.

Welcome to Canadistan

Allah Akbar.

“Fossil Award”? Is that for some of those old fossils that keep popping up in Justie’s government – John McCallum, Wynnie-the-Pooh, Slugger Chretshun, R. Goodtail, etc.?

Canada’s vast boreal forest is this planet’s carbon sink. We should be charging the big emitters for using our resource to scrub their polluting – but no, PM selfie is too busy revelling in the national guilt trip to tell these eco-con men to stop pointing fingers at us and pay the toll. We are not a problem, we offer a much greater carbon buffer than out put and that needs to be recognised before we even take these conferences seriously.

Parliament hasn’t even reconvened. It takes time to implement change. We’re still lost in the “momentum” from the Harper years.

Robert Hegwill – great post, beat me to it. Nathan W. - it’s funny that you say “10,000 times over” because that’s how many red-noise tests that auditors did with Michael Mann’s “Hockey stick” algorithm with the same outcome 99% of the time-another hockey stick, 9999 times out of 10,000 (for those of you who aren’t aware, red-noise tests are random number generated tests applied to statistical algorithms to ensure the algorithms aren’t skewing the results, but rather the results are an artifact of the data itself). You could have put zip codes into Mann’s algorithm and still gotten a hockey stick practically every time “because it’s easy to fake science 10,000 times over…”

Canada – land of entitled politicians called liberals.

Robert Hewgill, I am sorry, but Nathan W can only read those things that support his preconceived bias.

Sue Diotte, I like your sarcasm, but I think it is lost on the likes of Nathan W, Sean Penson, Andrew Stephenson and their ilk. They probably read your comment and thought you were serious.

It’s morning in Ontario! Another day in the nightmare of Liberalism. It has been balmy for the last couple of days in the sixties. OMG, red alert, sound the horns, be terrified, shrink in your whole, don’t a light campfire, don’t eat smores, forget the hot doggers, don’t play tag kids, no hide and seek ….bunker bunker! It’s the climate change armageddon!!!

Hey, leave turdo la doo alone. He’s (unwittingly, of course) fulfilling two functions: (a) making Obammy look smart by comparison, and (b) pushing all of our parasites closer to their bout with Grecian formula.

I hope one of the climate change deniers who fancy themselves to know something about science will take a look at the 5-year moving average of temperature in the following graph and enlighten us:
Happy 2015, the hottest year on record (soon to be sure). Oh, but climate change is a scam, because it’s easy to fake science 10,000 times over without anyone understanding how or why.

“This coming after he’s spent $4 billion dollars in the first month of governing.”
Please be more specific. If that`s all he spent, then spending is down enormously compared to Harper.

Liberals are full of great expectations and projections when newly elected. After they squander the the taxpayer loot-

Liberals are full remorse and must raise taxes for the good of the People . After the People get fed up with Liberal Libations and Lies —
Conservatives get elected. —and have to do the dirty work and heavy lifting. ………………and then…………………

Lee Turner sounds a very well indoctrinated Liberal voter. Hasn’t got a clue about much of anything.

Lee Turner your comment makes no sense. There’s no free money in it for Conservative males either. Or Liberal or NDP ones.

Yes, Canada is back, honey, I know you are just bitter because as a Conservative female, there is no free money in it for you.

Environmental Extortion 101:
a.k.a. You Can Fool Some of the People All the Time – or – Fool Enough People and You’ll Have Power Forever.
a.k.a. The Rich Get Rich and the Poor Pay Taxes

Here’s the covert strategy being used by the Climate Change Industry and its Associated Political Charlatans. Recall images of the Sorcerer or wizard during a solar eclipse, waving arms and chanting mystical passages to impress the surrounding people with the Sorcerer’s unique ability to prevent horrific disasters like the disappearance of the Sun. Of course, as the Wizard knew, the Sun returned, confirming the powers and benevolence of the wizard, who consequently retained and increased immense personal power and esteem until another Eclipse was spotted (if ever).

The Climate Change Gang are using a similar strategy. They will now spend as much AND AS FAST as they can, to do literally anything they can rationalize to be a prevention or resolution to Climate Change. And whatever they do will be irrelevant, because should Climate Change reverse or stop, even as a natural event bearing no relationship to the Gang’s activity, the claim will be:
“Look what we’ve done. There’s the proof. We’ve saved the Planet. And logically we better keep on doing what we did so Climate Change doesn’t return.” >> $$$$$
However conversely, if the Climate continues to change and the Gang’s disastrous predictions do come true despite their efforts, the claim will now be:
“Here is clear evidence that we haven’t done enough, and it could have been even worse, so therefore we need to continue what we did and do even more.” >> $$$$$

Anyone who truly believes in anthropogenic climate change (not just on the take like the 97% of scientists), but truly is a real believe in anthropogenic climate is a stupid idiot. A dolt.

Getting commended by liars is really no commendation at all.
