“Unbelievable”: Dion defends reporter's right to question Chinese diplomat — on Twitter, two days later

Brian LilleyArchive

We all know how much the Liberals love communist China. They're so deferential that when a Chinese diplomat berated a Canadian reporter for daring to ask him about human rights, Foreign Affairs Minister Stephane Dion stood there and said nothing.

But have no fear! Dion eventually came to the journalist's defense -- two days later, on Twitter.

By the way, all this reminds me of a Conservative campaign commercial showing Dion debating Michael Ignatief.

WATCH and see what I mean...

…….building relationships globally sounds like a lovely idea, John. However if it involves bending over or kneeling it has no real value to any nation.

To John S.

So, using your logic, we should not intervene and attempt to stop the lunatics who are responsible for this?

Here is a price list for slaves of the Islamic State members at one of the caliphate’s sex slave markets in November, 2014. A price list was released setting the rate Yazidi and Christian girls between ages 10 and 20 at $130. Women between the ages of 20 and 30 were being sold for $86; a 30 to 40 year was being sold for $75 and 40 to 50 year old women were listed for sale at a price of $43.
The price list began with these words: “In the name of Allah, most gracious and merciful. We have received news that the demand in women and cattle markets has sharply decreased and that will affected Islamic State revenues as well as the funding of the Mujaheddin in the battlefield. We have made some changes. Below are the prices of Yazidi and Christian women.”

I dearly hope that when you get mugged, the people that may be witnessing the attack on your person will try to intervene and offer you some aid!

Again with the Hitler nonsense which is the keystone of the Conservative foreign policy nowadays.

Canada was never founded on being extremely interventionist. After all, Canada was always a middle power because we have a lower population.

Harper never attacked China regularly. He merely talked about its human rights record which is a problem.

I would rather nations have national sovereignty than care much for free and fair elections because nations nowadays are indebted and the US, Canada and the Western nations are wasting their money on foreign policy adventurism rather than domestic policies to keep our manufacturing and to draw on what is best about Canada which is having a balanced foreign policy.

Do not forget that even Canada does not have free and fair elections because there are only 3 major parties with the Bloc and the Greens having 11 seats added up on their own merits alone.

That proves we have no right to lecture anyone.

Using Hitler is just making that suggestion that any power we do not like is as bad as Hitler when that is just blatant propaganda and as I said before the crux of the foreign policy of interventionists and not singled to just Conservatives but even hawkish Liberals.

The fact is even libertarians can be non-interventionists. To suggest that peace is only spoken by socialists and nationalists and civic nationalists is ludicrous. It shows lack of reading and discovering ideologies. Even anarcho-communists are peaceful as well and anti-authoritarian. You need to do some research Robert Raymond.

Would you please stuff your socialist peace agenda some place were the sun don’t shine.
Everyone is fed up hearing your blathering stupidity. Sometimes you need to take a stand against bullies. Bullies have a very low tolerance for dialogue. They’ll sit and listen all you want but then they’ll beat some sense into you.
Hitler signed peace accords with Russia and Britain. Guess what? Hitler was a bully.
If stating the truth hurts, so be it.
The truth is that China has a deplorable human rights record and this should be brought to their attention as if they don’t already know.

So zip it!

The purpose of a balanced foreign policy is to want to make peace and have real diplomacy and mediation and trying to avoid war and build relationships. Canada is following the US because we are going to stay in NATO and we are doing a non-combat role in Syria and Iraq. I think Dion was silent to try to create a better approach than the Harper era but that is all it is. People think it is appeasing but it is turning the page on the Harper era. Doing business with other nations should occur because what is the purpose of criticizing a nation. Even the Harper regime invited China and did not attack them at every turn. I very much agree that peace is better than war but people on Rebel lack the differences between isolationism, neutrality, pacifism, non-interventionism, interventionism and dominionism. These differences all go over the heads of such people. Which is why when one criticizes a conservative they are instantly labeled left wing or liberal, but many ideologies are different than conservatism. It is that white/black thing that if you are not this you are automatically that. That is alright but this lack of knowledge speaks volumes of how truly uninformed the neoconservative right wing truly is on anything related to politics. That is what happens when people get all their news from Rebel without considering ever other network in Canada and the world, including Internet news.

Harper told Putin off in Australia, guess we won’t see that kind of frank diplomacy out of Junior & Co.. Yup, Canada has gone bye-bye.

A bit off topic, but how the fk do Dion and Sohi communicate???? They must have to text each other, English is obviously not an option.

My father always maintained that politicians are like bananas,
They are born green, live yellow and crooked and die rotten.

Did he escort this scolding commie cxxt to the airport and kick his red ass out of this free nation with a sign pinned to his back saying “kick me hard I screwed a trade deal with the planet’s greatest nation with my bitter autocrat hubris”?

I bet it never even crossed his empty mind
