Dishonest media hit UCP Interim leader with so-con “gotcha” questions

Holly NicholasRebel Commentator

The mainstream media are losing their minds now that conservatives have finally sealed the deal to unite the right in Alberta. You can tell by the way they're pulling out all of their social issue “gotcha” questions at every presser they attend.

Their latest fake outrage victim is new United Conservative Party interim leader, Nathan Cooper.

At a presser announcing the UCP’s new leadership team, Cooper was asked about his time working as a spokesperson and on a talk radio show for a social conservative group with apparent homophobic views.

He said his views had changed but this exchange and Cooper’s answers on LGBTQ’s, gay straight alliances and parental rights became the mainstream media headlines for the day.

The questions asked stemmed from a poorly sourced Press Progress article that contained links that didn’t function and vague references. In fact, if you try to dig down into the article's content, none of the links to what’s promised as “eyebrow raising” content, actually work so you can’t access this information to see or hear for yourself.

Bear in mind that Press Progress is maintained by the Broadbent Institute, named after former NDP leader Ed Broadbent. There haven’t been any slow news days in Alberta this week, so it would appear the media’s in full campaign mode against the United Conservative Party.

And today, they’ve actually found a new topic to smear Cooper with - his stance on abortion, because having private religious views is apparently controversial. In the wake of this, the Minister who called us “Sewer Rats”, Sarah Hoffman demanded that Cooper either resign, or offer an explanation.

I can think of more than a few things that the entire NDP should resign over - where should I start?

Problem is the Fake News Media will NOT report on any transgressions from the left. It goes against the narrative.

Jamie Macmaster…… yup, you nailed it. Their answers to these media parisites should be back in the faces. Nail them with the bigotry and racism that they constantly espouse in articles and their line of questioning.
The way I see it, if the fake news MSM are attacking, then this party is on the right track. We can’t be worried about pandering to these leftist regressive fucktards……ever!

That the left wing media would do what it did (and will continue to do) to goad politicians to come around to the ‘progressive’ narrative, comes as no surprise and should be no surprise to any street smart politician (as Jamie points out, they should anticipate such questions and be prepared). Holly, however, you are right that Cooper was a “victim”. Sadly, Nathen Cooper, a little man in stature and political acumen, allowed himself to become a victim. Cooper could simply have answered something like, ‘Look the party is only a few days old. I am the interim leader and my personal views are irrelevant as the policies and perspectives of the new party will be formulated through our grassroots and an upcoming founding policy convention. Next question."
Instead, disappointingly, he grovelled to the media and told them what they wanted to hear and, even worse, thereby unilaterally set out a policy position for the new party! Who cares what Cooper ’believes’ on such matters as he is only the interim leader and should act accordingly. I sent him an email, advising, ‘Put a cork in it.’

The real problem is that Conservatives haven’t developed the brains or guts to treat our infantile press with the contempt it deserves. Instead of anticipating and preparing for the stupid questions, they constantly get broadsided and end up looking like the putzes they are.

Good point, Bill. My rule of thumb is that if the government and the media think something is a good idea- it isn’t.

“Looks like the Canadian media did not learn anything from the American elections.”

No, they haven’t. Nor should you expect them to since most of the media is comprised of lefties.

The three pillars of leftiedom preclude that from happening. The three pillars are:

1. They refuse to learn from their mistakes
2. They refuse to learn from the mistakes of others
3. They refuse to exercise discernment.

The Rebel is more necessary than ever as a news source.

I feel sorry for any politician these days that may have a thread of moral fiber left in their bodies and believing that abortion for convenience or for any other reason other than
severe medical anomalies is murder.!
As a society look how far we have d-evolved where now it’s normal to evacuate the womb to avoid any messy complications that may arise from irresponsible sexual behavior.. The problem in society today is very few people have an understanding of anything other than their own wants and needs to be serviced immediately, but oh boy are these people ever full of self-esteem with feelings that get bruised very easily by telling something that resembles the truth but doesn’t fit the parameters of their comfort zones..

A good rule of thumb these days is that if the lugenpresse attacks some thing/one, it’s generally not in our best interests. The MSM represents special interests not aligned with the majority of the public. In Alberta’s case having CBC in the Province is like having a pedophile running a children’s charity.

Hoffman is Health Minister as an example of what not to look like and what not to do to your body if you want to be healthy.

Canadian Mongrel, ain’t that the truth!
Hoffman as Health Minister is more than just ironic, it’s an in your face confirmation the NDP have no idea which way is up!

Hoffman, as a really, really unhealthy fat person is just taking her frustrations out on someone that is not. If she demands resignations for hypocracy, then she should be the first to resign as health minister.

However, we do know Hoffman actually exists as opposed to the invisible energy minister, aka phantom MLA for Dunvegan and Central Peace.
