On Friday's show, guest host Jerry Agar offered his opinion on a memorial for Barbara Kulaszka, a lawyer infamous for defending Holocaust deniers, that took place at a Toronto public library.
Even though the views of neo-Nazis are both shameful and discredited, Jerry explained that "free speech isn't free speech unless we tolerate the speech we dislike".
WATCH Jerry's video to see why tolerance doesn't equal acceptance.
Your post is a great example of common sense which the left has lost.
Free speech is just that. Free.
To suggest that holocaust deniers might not be “deserve free speech” is as ludicrous as suggesting Man Made Climate Warming deniers might not deserve free speech.
In summary:
1. Free speech has to be for everybody.
2. Free speech allows debate.
3. What’s forbidden just draws more attention.
4. Free speech does indeed allow false teachers to hang themselves and therefore their ideas to die.
Ron Joseph-I’ve said the same for years but the problem is that the extent of the left wing bias in our society is so ingrained that those laws and courts only work for them.
The benefit of listening to speech that we disagree with, then we know what others are thinking, and that is tremendously important. And it gives us the opportunity to refute the ideas you disagree with.
If you shut down somebody else’s free speech (which sadly is happening a lot), then you may find yourself shut down when you have something important to say.
Let them offend me, please. I want to know who my opponent’s are, and I want to know just how dangerous they are.
Once Trudeau’s “Islamaphobia bill” comes into effect, nobody will know wth is happening. With mainstream media seemingly supporting only the left, we’ll be left ignorant of what is truly happening to our great nation until it’s too late. It may already be too late with Trudeau still having a few more years to kick our asses into submission. I fear Europe is WAY too far gone. And what scares me, a lot, is that so many people, even smart people, are not fully cognizant of what is wrong with our current path because they don’t research beyond the main stream newspapers and tv news. SO much is not available there, and that which is NOT there is the most important stuff.
God Bless Us.
I haven’t been to TO since the Invasion, so I don’t know what the verdict would be, but we on the Right should start taking advantage of these sub-courts that we pay for.
In the realm of legality and the courts, evidence and jurisprudence is constantly being refined and what is admissable as proof or plausible reason to doubt . You cannot simply close the subject matter.
How many Jews can accurately recount the events that gave rise to the festival of Purim? Do you think that there are not historians and archeologists who simply deny that these things ever actually took place? There are historians and archeologists who deny evry account of Jewish suffering and persecution in all of their history. How come nobody is breaking their rice bowl over it?
Yes, they should have free speech. Free speech has to be for all or it is not worth spittle.
If we deny one persons speech then all the Libtards will be standing in line condemning me. More then they already do. This is one of those things we can not pick and choose, we are for 100% or against 100% and there can be no middle ground. Of course this is all a mute point. There is no real Free speech laws in Canada. We live in a country that pays terrorist for killing and then go out of our way to protect them. For the first time in my life I feel ashamed to be proudly Canadian.
In the 1980s the Soviet Communist Party approached the Canadian Communist Party to engage journalist Douglas Tottle to prepare counter-propaganda materials under the title “Fraud, Famine and Ukrainian Fascism”. In 1987, Tottle published his controversial book as Fraud, Famine, and Fascism: the Ukrainian Genocide Myth from Hitler to Harvard, in which he asserts that claims the Holodomor was an intentional genocide are “fraudulent”, and “a creation of Nazi propagandists”. His book, published by Progress Publishers in Toronto, appeared around the same time Ukrainian Communist party leader Volodymyr Shcherbytsky publicly acknowledged the famine, in December 1987.
Why is questioning the claims of Holocaust subject to censorship but denying the Ukrainian genocide is not?
