Do Ontarians share Wynne’s fear of “cannabis next to candy bars”?

David MenziesMission Specialist

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne is condemning PC Leader Doug Ford’s idea about having cannabis sold by private sector retailers.

Wynne is all about promoting a doomed government monopoly approach to selling pot, and in condemning private sector involvement, she claims Ontarians don’t want “cannabis sold next to candy bars.”

But, when it comes to age-restricted products, private sector convenience stores already sell many of those products right next to candy bars. In smaller communities, that includes more than 200 convenience stores that sell beer, wine, and spirits, that have been doing so for decades.

The ostensible policy reason for giving government control over liquor and weed retailing boils down to that murky concept known as “social responsibility.”

Yet studies show convenience stores scored the highest in refusal rates when tested with underage secret shoppers.

In 2012, the Ontario Convenience Stores Association delivered the largest single petition ever collected in Ontario’s history with hundreds of thousands of signatories who wanted to see more competition in beer and wine sales through convenience stores.

Clearly, Wynne doesn’t speak for all Ontarians on a supposed resistance to seeing cannabis next to candy bars.

Government’s role when it comes to any product is to regulate and tax the stuff, not to warehouse and retail it, especially when nanny-state monopolies do such a poor job of it.

Canada is doomed. What’s next – prostitution and bestiality being legal? NO MORALS.

Back in 1972 here in Alberta, I was able to buy cigarettes at a convenience store when I was only 15 years old. Worse yet, the minister of a house church I attended then got his sheep dog elder to coerce me to go and buy them for the minister. Just goes to show that laws don’t totally prevent crime. A day will come when people will wonder what the whole fuss about pot was in 2018.

Doug Ford should post photos of Trudeau and Wynne together at various times, they always look so chummy!

Deborah Graupner, hope you right, if people don’t smarten up this coming voting rounds this country might be toast.

I think that junior is doing more to kill the ON liberal’s, and the liberal brand, with his open borders, and his attack on capitalism, which is affecting everyone who pays taxes. His thumbing his nose at our trade partners, and breaking our laws, and his insatiable greed, and flaunting his terrorsit connections, and even funding terrorism, has made people turn around and take notice. Not to mention his hatred of Christians, and his distain for our country. If Wynne falls, Trudeau will fall with her!

And I should of added to my last post….They should be charged for criminal offences because of their willful blindness or negligence of their political positions that they were supposed to uphold with due diligence…

I thought some of you didn’t want pot to be legal. Weren’t you hoping that Doug Ford would take Trudeau to court to keep pot out of Ontario?

The liberalist globalist sh!t that is oozing out of wynnes…trudeau’s mouth’s are toxic… Can’t wait until these two are out of our lives just like hillary and obama….We all know they will insist and be belligerent to stay in public view….but by then they will be irrelevant….

The variety store near my home sells freshly baked bread, fresh flowers, Crown Royal etc..among thousands of other items. Employees regularly check ID.
The grocery store 10 minutes away from my home, asks everyone for photo ID. There was a man in his eighties carded when he bought a bottle of merlot, he was a little surprised saying he hasn’t been asked to produce ID in decades. The cashier explained the store policy applies to all customers.

Wynne’s cannabis monopoly is another sector she wants unionized.

Like David pointed out, having munchies on hand under the same roof makes sense for a cannabis user, saves them a trip!

Windbags Liebral friends want the monopoly. Just like turdo,s uncle Paul and their Saudi oil imports.

Liberals say there’s absolutely nothing wrong with cannabis but we should make sure we have total control over it to protect the masses from themselves.
What a fraudulent argument like everything else she says and does
Instead of buying a bottle of booze at the Liquor CONTROL BOARD of Ontario today ,I’m going to invest in Ford by way of a campaign donation.
The miserable corrupt witch has to go .

Yep….

It’s all about control, and the money for Wynne and her friends, the union bosses. This woman is one of the biggest liars around. Her and McGuilty have crippled ON, and I can’t wait until she’s removed from office. I hope and pray Ford can do it, but the corruption is as deep as the ocean.

Wynne wants to sell dope in government run stores to pad public sector pensions which are probably going bust. I would prefer to keep dope illegal, however if we must have it, then let the private sector do it. The same for liquor. End this ridiculous LCBO nonsense.
commented 2018-03-17 11:11:28 -0400
Wynne wants more fat and happy unionized public sector workers who will give her money, run attack ads against Conservatives and loyally vote Liberal. This has nothing to do with dope next to candy bars.

Considering Wynne’s openness to highly questionable things such as

- the Ontario sexually oriented education curriculum
- “green” energy theft schemes
- gas plant debacles, the following cover up and “lost” emails
- (and much more)

it is only obvious that this “cannabis sold next to candy bars” shtick is just a ploy to make herself look like she has morals.

We all know that woman has no morals.
